I really didnt want to rise to this but seriously man, if you dont like drifting for whatever reason thats fine, but you really dont have a clue what your talking about.

A rear end trying to overtake the front all the time, would be useless on either car, grip or drift. A nice grippy rear end on a drift car is what you want. you want to be able to break traction eventually, by exceeding the cars grip, by entering the corners to fast for the car, not by making the car rubbish.

Does that count cockface?

Sorry but us "drifters" don't take the piss out of the people that spent £Â£Ã‚£Ã‚£ on honeyspunk wax and spent every minute of there spare time "detailing" there cars.

As for whoever thinks trackday and drifting setups are completely different, come to a top event and il walk round with you and you can speak to the drivers about there suspension set-ups/geometry etc. You think sliding a car at 100mph+ requires no grip, that must be why they use soft as fu ck track tyres. Man some people have no idea. As for welders, they must be realy shit i mean winning btcc prove there shitness.

Kedge - that'd be great, just drop me a pm when you have the shocks (I assume shocks and springs?) for sale.

I suspect that once I get rid of the wanderyness I won't feel like changing the rack any more, but I was curious as to what was best.

And pacerpete, I've got no video, but here's a photo of me going sideways at the last drift day I did. 2nd gear, probably just over 4000rpm as I was coming out of a tight corner.
Just check out that bodyroll, THATS why I want it lower and stiffer :D

You guys keep asking questions about the optimum suspension set up for your £300 sheds and talk incessantly about the 'lifestyle' /welders/rattlecans/partworns etc and think we are impressed, we are not. Every c0ck with a beat up RWD sh1theap thinks he's a drifter, who cares.
There is nothing wrong with 4rsing about in scrap cars , we have all done it but you are not rocket scientists so spare us the patronising drift spiel and stop ramming it down our throats. When you show me your stripped out 400bhp R32 i'll take you seriously but a £300 140bhp scrapper with a welder is probably not going to benefit noticeably from you optimising the (kn)ackerman angle ! :)

sorry but gotta agree with pete on this one, ''drifting'' a turd in a car park through cones under direction fella in a green jacket while old folk peer through their net curtains from the caravans does not count for drifting..... blokes in skirts and real street ,and any car you give them rear wheel, front wheel drive, open diff welded diff, Toyota, mazda anything you name if they will drift it, and not a caravan in sight.

and even the music is as sh1te as tramp drift...

if you want to live the lifestyle might as well take a leaf out of these felles books they put your carpark jollies to shame..

did you watch the video and the thousands of others?

most of them look in control to me, driving round a car park bouncing off the rev limiter in 2nd is hardly a great lifestyle choice but if you enjoy yourself then live it up!!

thats poor, paint a turd up, stick a big motor in and slide round a controlled track and still hit the dirt, sorry that is not drifting, hiring any car (FWD) the place has, getting four of your mates in dresses and sliding in between trucks, cars, lamposts, other blokes in skirts...... that takes balls..... An Escort with a roll cage and a helmet.... :gay:

You guys are funny, that video of ME in the santa pod ultimate BMW show was indeed just a glorified donut, but it's a glorified donut that none of you could do, and it's a glorified donut that was both free (would have made £40 if it wasn't for tyre changing costs), and lots of fun.

If you are belittling the skill required then you are misguided, if you are belittling the hobby then what is wrong with it? It's fun isn't it? You can be proud of it because not everybody can do it? Isn't that on the same level as buying the "rarest" Hartge wheels, or having an immaculately clean engine bay? Obviously I can appreciate concours but it's not my thing, I might even chortle a little to myself that people get worked up over specks of dust on their cars and think going on a spirited country lane blat makes them driving gods, but I don't start trying to personally insult people based on their interests.

I would appreciate those of you who are trying to have a go at people who like drifting, to at least do it with valid points like "isn't it a bit silly? sliding your car and being judged like big gay ballet dancing?" rather than "you are a pikey as you don't have a posh car yet can still drive equally as well as those in said posh cars".

FWIW - if I see you, Pacerpete, or you, Jhonno, at a car show, I'm going to take my shitbox e30 and smash into you - HA.[/Pacerpete mode]

That's the thing, it is harder than you think. Show me a video of you drifting as well as me and I'll take it back.

Going sideways isn't rocket science, going sideways around a course with angle, smoke, speed, and precision for the racing line or whatever is where it gets difficult.

is this not locked yet? :D

why not have a go at drifting? its difficult! all e30 owners can kick the back end out, but actually holding and controlling that slide with as much angle as you can, is really hard, then transition it the other way...........
ive always liked arsing about in cars, and drifting is a constructive way for me to arse about in my car...... whether it be tramp or not.
for the record.......trampdrift is about going drifting on a budget, not doing dohnuts in a sh1theap! trampdrifters cars often look like shitters cus we cant afford to mint the outside (also whats the point when its only guna get bumped and scuffed?) doesnt mean its not a pretty sorted car underneath.
i think you fellas that spend more time polishing your cars than driving them need to get off your high horses before mike ramraids your ass!
mike, that video still rules! can you not change the music on it? its reeeeeeeeeeally bad!

Jhonno, I was actually beginning to appreciate you for giving some good advice and answering my questions, its jsut a pity you decided to continue argueing and my opinion of you has lowered back down again, I'd thought you were going to get past the petty 'drifting is sad' stage.

Drifting is not a particularly easy sport to master, I'm no master, I don't deny it, but I'm learning. Pacerpete's comment about going and getting a 400bhp skyline to drift is ridiculous. I'm trying to learn a sport - I can already do and drive round a track quickly, it takes practise to be very good, but the basics are very easy, especially if you're an instinctive driver, whereas drifting takes more effort to be good at, there's a far higher element of control in it. Why'd I learn in some big overpowered car like a tuned skyline? It'd cost me the earth to insure, running costs would be a lot more than for my 318, petrol more, and it'd teach me less. Learning with an underpowered car teaches you control, which means that when you progress upwards, you'll be far more capable to start with.

Can a mod please lock this thread, and I'll just have to ask any questions I still want answered again, due to a few people posting rubbish and being very unhelpful. :(

A bit rich coming from a "Quattroporte" owner. Ironically I was thinking Last and the Furious about some of you drift dudes comments.

Seems you guys just wont learn. If you want to ASBO around in your scrappers while jizzing about Paul Walker. Fine. Horses for courses. Just don't come here preaching about some sideways nirvana to people who are simply not that bothered, expecting them to prey to your demi-god status.

That's not to say we're all too busy making our cars look like showroom exhibitions, which is just a very easy generalisation.

The next mistake you made is giving a sh*t about our opinions. You guys have been sucked in and played with, yet are too wound up trying to force your opinions onto others, to notice. You've made yourself look stupid.

Perhaps if you talked about your preferred hobby with a little more humility, you'd be treated with a bit more credibility.

Every hero on here has had a little arse end out action. Many have seen the drift bible and seen how it's done properly, in and out a variety of different cars.

Jibbering on about 100mph drifts (:snigger:) then posting videos of 2nd gear burn outs is also comical.

A 400 bhp skyline is not over powered. It just requires a finer skill than a shagged out IS. The consequence is much greater.

Me, I've seen drifting. Yeah it takes a skill set. I was bored with it after 10 minutes. Though it's still a giggle in the snow!
