Just reading the latest Top Gear mag. James May going on about the 1984 911 3.2 carrera he bought and what good value it was. Then moves on to other cars of similar value, including the M3 ("from the desirable original up to the present day")

Now I was annoyed because I've always thought the 80s "stockbroker" Porsches were excellent value and now he's let the cat out the bag they won't be any more. Shame, I always fancied a turbo bodied 3.2 with a picnic table on the back.

..But its a shame for the mortals with piggy banks amongst us if the article does the same thing to the E30 M3 (unless you're selling of course  )

Why did they name the silver after a condom?

i was nosing through a 2005 copy of classic car (or similar) their valuations for e30 m3s were, mint £7500, average - £4500, poor- £1750

quite a difference those 3 years make, you'll struggle to find a tatty one for £4500 today 8O
cheers,

I somehow doubt James May's word will have a major effect o the markets of those cars.

Hell, with the rising cost of petrol and fecked up economy we've been having as late, I'd expect prices to go down before they go up.

It feels like 1988 all over again, I remember the stupid prices people were paying for average 'classic' cars back then as investments only to get their fingers seriously burnt.

Try buying a mk1 escort or cortina today and even the rustiest two door shell is worth 2k plus!!! Madness I tell thee....
