Impressive work! The 'BMW original parts' sticker across the top of the screen in the next to last photo made me smile though!

As far as I can see, the engine swap part of it doesn't necessarily generate a large bill at all, not counting labour. It's all about the vision to see what can be done and how to do it, and then having the nerve, ability and patience to go ahead and do it!daimlerman wrote: what sort of bill does a build like this generate?

Fantastic job, well done!
Which wheels have you got there?
I've got a set of 15" OZ Rallyes fitted to my 318iS (like fitted to the 'other' car in your pics) but those 12-spokes in white look fantastic. What size are they?
cheers!

Sorry for delay replying. First up, the two of us would like to thank each and
everyone of you that posted for your kind words. It was great to be able to
come on here and share details with like minded people who understand why
someone would go to such lengths to have something different.
To answer some of the questions posted:
Theo326 -- "Where did you get the decals from?"
For our own car seen in the last few pictures (the 325) we got some
black vinal and printed the logos on the back of them and then cut
them out with a scalpel. Took forever and both of us agreed we'd try and
get someone to make them proper this time round and were bracing
ourselves for some large estimates. And then German ebay came to
the rescue...........

daimlerman -- "Without being rude, what sort of bill does a build like this generate?"
Unfortunately thats a figure for the owner to reveal. The agreement
we had with him was that the first thing we'd do was figure out what
was goin to be involved in getting the engine in and once we new what
sort of hours were going to be involved in this we gave him a quote to
complete the whole job. In total the job from start to finish consisted of,
wait for it, 544 hours. The price agreed upon was far, far less than what
you might imagine, for one reason, we hope to do a bit of this kind of
work for people in the future and the best way of letting people know
what you can do is to try and build something that gets noticed. We
knew all the things we wanted to do with the car but didn't feel
comfortable talking the customer into paying for work he mightn't
have originally intended to get done. Hopefully it leads to more work.
ric325i -- "its been a while........are you out driving it??? we still would like a video if you have it"
we have had the car out for a small drive but are waiting
for some final pieces before we can bring it out for a good hammering,
which should tie in nicely with the bloke in the red jacket and white
beard dropping off a nice new camcorder.
Huge -- Which wheels have you got there?
the wheels are Team Dynamics and are 17 x 7.5 et 15, not sure of the
exact name and price as the owner provided them.
We've a lot of stuff to get through in the new year before we can start
the next full build we want to do for ourselves, unfortunately though, it's
not going to be a bmw
, on the bright side though it will be german,
and be a little bit different from cars normally seen at track days...........

Fantastic!
I'd love to see your next project, BMW or not!
As it might be non-BMW related you could still post the progress in 'Pub Talk'!
Your workmanship is an inspiration!

Just read the thread from start to finish.
OH MY GOOD GOD!
If i had the time this is the way i'd like to build cars. But with a full time job and a four year old, not likely!
Amazing, totally, absolutly, jaw droppingly amazing
