:D right having just spent a small fortune getting my car up to scratch for a mauling at the nuremburg ring this weekend

eg replacing all the bushes on the car, springs, shocks, fluids pads and all that sh!te, 6 branch too

*the f*cking cheapo sh!tty starter motor that the previous owner fitted on 53,000miles 3 years go has died ina cloud of white smoke, so it did an amazing 30,000miles woo who*

NOT AMUSED but laughing at it now, plus it's at my sisters house and i don't fancy push starting it's fat arse either

Always the way innit :?

only kidding, sorry to hear of the starter failing :(

looks like its time to cancel the Ԛ£130 one and get yourself down to GSF....

Good luck getting it fixed :thumb:

bmw has a commitment to keeping parts on shelves etc, but they aint gonna lose loadsa money doing it

Next time your in the dealers, ask them to look it up on the ETK, it will say remanufactured next to it. It will probably look new though!

I would imagine the GSF parts would have the usual 1 year warranty.

So all this talk of gearbox out to replace the motor rubbish! motors changed and running in 30 mins! apart from having to go home and get the alarm key to stop the siren going off and not letting the car start so sorted

But now it idles rough and cuts out, plus down on power, is this cos the battery was dis connected and the ecu has to sort itself out again?!

nice one on getting the starter done!

as for the car running rough...

let it get stone cold, disconnectthe battery then unplug the ECU and leave it for 10 mins.

Reattach ECU and start car-leave it to idle for at least 10mins before taking it out for a run (minimum of 45mins). Drive a varied route (hills, MWay backroads, town etc) so the ECU can re-learn settings.

If its still running rough get it to bounce off the limiter in 3rd 8O

also check for any vacuum leaks
