theres an idea, a restoration section would be nice
Andyboy wrote:Tech 1 Sports were probably the best non M/Alpina E30's. High compression engines had more bite and the yellow Billies gave a nice firm ride. Alas there are probably only 10 good ones left now.
I couldn't agree more

I like Chromies.
X5 V8 for thrills, CRV for chills, Range Rover P38 V8 for sooooo much aggravation...

A true classic car has to have chrome, not plastic tat chrome from toyshop.com but real metal chromieolog; maybe turning to the shiney side

Beige!
It belonged to a guy at the office and it was at the stage where another 2 winters would kill it. It's a completely different car to the sad shed it was 2 weeks ago. Another 2-3 days of mechanical fettling and it'll be all done but I want to get the red 318i Auto MOT'd and on the road. That needs the cambelt and rollers doing plus a track rod before it gets it's dozen.

What colour is the interior then?

Sorry Jesus have to disagree with you i dont. To me chrome on a car is the same as how many mirrors you have in your house. I have 1 i use for shaving in the morning. Once done thats it, i dont feel the need to look again and again. Chrome on a car is only there so that you can look at yourself when cleaning it

For sale soon, 325 Touring (H) 1991 Jan. Auto 104K, silver BBS (black and silver) Mint sport interior. New front wings, very tidy, all bushes done front and back, Wheel bearings. Available this month. Email for further

I sold a two door beige comfort leather interior including carpet to the young guy from TBMW who had a white 320i chromie. I take it its the same car and i think he said it had green cloth? What happened to the beige leather? I suppose the green cloth is better from an originality point of view.

A carmen red chrome 4 door is about as desireable as bum cancer, so i am guessing it took the dealer 5 years to sell it !

I take it that its been established that J319 YLS did belong on an E30...........and not a 1.1 Fiesta or something.....

J319YLS doesn't exist, certainly not on that. A bit iffy methinks. YLS is from Stirling in Scotland btw.
Yes Barry, that's the guy. Beige comfort leather....
If it ever had a trim change it's be black or dark blue sports trim.

When did you sell it? Stuff seems to disappear from the DVLA website fairly quickly. My old 316i (G667BLR) was scrapped in 2004 and no longer appears on it, but the vehicle checker on autotrader still had records of it

It was probably a ringer. It was a 1987 car and it wouldn't have been registered as a new car 4 years after it was made. A mate had a B plate 520i Auto a few years ago. According to BMW, the chassis number related to a different colour and a manual box.

well if it was a ringer even at that its still very uncomon to see a j reg e30 as most j reg 4 door 3 series were e36 shape. plus i should mention when i bought it it had been lying in a police poand in stirling as the boy i got it off had been done for no licence.. i went up with the v5 and an insurance policy and was alowed to drive it out

Check with BMW - you'll probably find it was an E36. HPI will give a chassis number to work with.

must say though when i bought the car even though where ipicked it up from i did wonder about it with it being a j plate. i did check all the numbers matched which they did, at the time i thought it may have come over from jersey or somewhere hence the reason it had a j reg

My black Touring came with a pair of Irish plates under the rear load cover. A check check revealed they were from a black 1991 E36 320i..........

I've just checked the BMW build record:
0964 = Scottish specification (vinyl seats, coin rack).
0887 = Scottish Check Control system:

Does it have optional Ginger roof lining?
Can it be run on Special Brew?

now now don't get started on slagging the Scottish
if i remember right the English government bled Scotland dry with poll tax extra for about a year before the English got it.. the biggest majority of fuel comes from Scotland yet the fuel in England is cheaper than it is in Scotland...
but more to the point how did this topic get from chrome on to the Scottish??????
