Whooooos got the oldest e30???

My December '84 320i didn't have repeaters, but had them added when it had new wings in 2002. I thought about getting the holes in the wings welded up but tgh I thing they look a bit bare with them missing.

If TRX882Y still exists, that would be superb. This is what I'm talking about for the Chrome section - I completely missed that thread. The road test cars including that one and UBL44Y were given to key BMW employees to use for a week - my Dad drove UBL44Y for a week in early 1983 between Somerset and Bracknell, giving it a proper toasting for 1000 miles to loosen it up. They never suffered but they gave better figures against the stopwatch.

Barry - that '82 car needs saving. Would look nice in Opal green, 40mm drop, shiny chrome, polished MiM's and a 2.7.
How many Zoners have a 1982 build E30?

I was thinking opal green, beige leather, BBS and a 3.5. It certainly does need saving thats one thing for sure, hell even if it went back to a 320 on bottle tops!

Looks sweet enough - needs a 30mm drop though! What engine?

Yes Mate, standard shocks (if still strong and not leaking) would be okay. It's when you go down 40-50mm plus and the springs aren't good and tight in the strut that you get problems. I'm fitting a set of 35mm Eibachs to mine soon, I'll post up how it looks. I fitted a set of Spax springs to one last week and they worked okay.

Eibachs are about the best you can buy but aren't the cheapest. I think they're about £150 from the Zone Shop (Evolve). They're not a bad job - the fronts are the hardest with two balljoints to split. The rears are easy, especially as the 320i doesn't have a rear anti roll bar.

Thats sitting about as high as mine - not brave enough to tackle replacing suspension components yet !

Only downfall with it was someone in its lifetime had felt the need to fit a aftermarket glass sunroof
Bought for £160 off Ebay with a nice hole in the side of the M10 block.

That's so early, it hasn't got the plastic vents in the rear side valances behind the bumper quarters like this:



It'll have the high rear floorpans as well.

That needs saving so badly.

I wouldn't be so sure, i'd guess it had the holes but they have been 'skimmed' over !

That's number 29 then - probably the oldest E30 in use until recently. That's older than any of the 320i press cars. It was almost certainly built on the first day of RHD production, same as 001 and it would have been in the first batch across on the big boat. What a pity.
The 320i's were built first, the 323i's after a few days and the RHD 316 started in January 1983.

As Andyboy has said RHD 316 production started jan 83 so not one of the first E30's but maybe the oldest remaining 316?
