worth while doing it when you see the sludge it displaces. I used it last service and couldnt believe the gunk it brought out. I'd flush your rad as well if it hasn't been odne in a while and change your brake fluid all cheap things to do and worth while in my opinion..

Although i have to say changing the fluid has improved the pedal feel slightly i still can't bring the pedal up nice and firm maybe it's not a job for inexperienced DIY'ers i do have an easibleed though and it makes it way handier.

Just as a little warning, i did this to my old Merc, and it knackered the engine as all the 25 years worth of depoists dislodged and blocked everysingle oil way etc

Quite true. A gentler method is to use a diesel specific oil, and change at 1000 miles or so.

used it on a rough sounding 12 year old corsa, and it made a massive difference, sounded perfect :-).. on an m40 it made it rattly as hell.

I would assume its ok so long as you dont use it too much. Thogh yes blcked oil ways can be a problem

Only difference is it contains much more detergent.

That sounds more like bad luck than the norm - I have had quite a few cars, serviced most of them myself and used oil flushes without any ill effects - if anything the cars always ran smoother and quieter afterwards.

I read recently ( might even have been in this months TBMW Mag ) that you should leave the car idling for 45 mins  before draining the oil !

I also had a bad experience with engine flush on my Honda Civic Vtec. I followed the instructions to a T and a perfectly smooth 48k engine became a rattly misfiring heap! 8O The brand i used was Wynns.

wynns is just like putting a litre of parafin or a quid of petrol in with the oil! do not use it! just thins the oil down.
we use a forte motor flush at work oil based detergents (run on tick over for half an hour, oil drained hot as fuk!) on a service its another £12.50 if a customer wants it/purswaded in to it, dont know how much it actually costs.......
at the end of the day i WONT be changing the camshafts, oil pumps and strainers/oil pick ups on a 80000 mile audi tts thats had one of these in with every service, cus the strainers blocked with bits of carbon deposits and the pumps and cams/followers are knackard!
you should see inside the engines of some of the "long life servicing" audis and volkswagens!
an engine can never have enough oil changes, simple as!
