I dont whether you guys get this but my fingers get freezing cold working on the car :( in this weather do any you use those mechanics gloves. Seen them in Total and performance BMW magazine.

Doe anyone here use them?

I would normally use thin cotton gloves "borrowed" from work. They keep your hands warm but they're thin enough to use when fiddling about with mechanicals.

Quite often than not I don't use anything. We're kinda used to the cold up here !!

If I need to sorte out my car here in Sweden and its -20 I use glowes for skiing and winter sports, they are hopeless to use, but keeps my fingers warm! You can get some new fassion winter sport glowes who is thin and more comfy to use and I do think they can work out to work on a car as well. But they arent cheap, think around £25 for a pair....

've got a pair of the mac tools ones but they are a pain in the arse to use you can't really grip in them as the material is pretty thick so i just use some disposable latex ones

Mechanics gloves are for tarts.

Latex gloves are all I use, saves scrubbing up afterwards.

Cheers,

I use barrier cream, can't handle the latex.

I would use mechanics gloves in cold weather though, that is if I wasn't such a southern pansy that I'm a fair weather mechanic only. :o:

I've been considering this myself. I prefer to be able to feel what I am doing, but breaking a car up on a hill in january kinda changed my mind on that one, cracked skin aplenty! I am a bit of a gyppo though and wouldnt shell out more than a tenner!

Latex gloves wont keep your hands warm, the opposite in fact as they make your hands sweat, wet hands in cold weather aint good

I nicked a few pairs of showa gloves from work, these, they are really good, thin enough not to hinder but they are breathable so your hands dont sweat.

After a few hours of oil and crud though they soak it up and your hands get dirty anyway

Just get some swarfega with added gravel :)

Be a man suffer the cold and go commando!!! id rather feel with my finger tips when working if you close your eyes and work with your hands with gloves you have no direction, BUT do the same thin with no gloves your sence of feel using your fingers/tips or course gives you sence of direction so itsimportant to feel...

like having a girl in the dark, you aint gonna put on gloves when you work are ya ?? what she thinking!!! winkeye winkeye

just a figure of speech....

guys, if you don't like latex gloves, try some nitrile ones, they are much stronger, and get caught up and snagged alot less often than the latex ones do even thought they are the same thickness.......they are a million times better
