depends on the ratio phil, some like an lsd 4.10 will be monster money compared to a 3.64 which is a bit undesirable to some
3.93 or 3.76 if the numbers are correct can hit 120-180 depending on size (large or small case) and age / condition (if its been overhauled with new slippy bits)

iirc 3.91 & 3.73 are the ratios of the 325 sport and m5 respectively.

200-250 for 3.91 lsd, from a sport
200-300 for 3.73 lsd, rarer in UK..... i have one though....LOL yet to put it on my sport as i find 3.91 uncomfortbale on mway cruising at high speed...

So 4.1 LSD's are worth a bit? Well I'll sell you mine for GBP 15,000, and for that price I'll include shipping to the UK and I'll personally deliver it to your door
. I know that's probably a fraction more than you might be wanting to pay BUT mine has been rebuilt not long ago with motorsport parts so your really getting a bargin
.
Now to l'll have to start looking for an E30 M3 to bring back

It would be getting close to 3000rpm at 60mph, with a sports type exhaust it might be uncomfortable. Depends on what speeds you travel at and what you are happy to put up with I suppose.AndyMack wrote:how is it uncomfortable on mways??Karan wrote:200-250 for 3.91 lsd, from a sport

so putting a LSD on alters the gearing?
I have a 325 and was thinking about getting a LSD from a Sport. Would that change anything?

^ Beat me to it

Putting and LSD on won't necessarily alter the gear ratios, it depends on what you have now and what ratio the LSD is.
With the 5th gear ratio in the gearbox (at least in my 323i gearbox) and a 3.91 or higher number LSD it will be around 3000rpm at 60mph (the bigger the number the more rpm) so if that is not what you want then you could try 3.73, 3.64 or 3.25 LSD (or some other smaller number) and the rpm will be lower.
I'm not sure what the ratio of 5th gear in the 325i gearbox is so you will have to check that, I think there was a thread somewhere about different gearboxes.

they are all 0.8 i think...... 4th gear is 1:1
ull love the sport box on the 2.5 i say do it
also find a 325 sport box which has lower 1st,2nd and 3rd ratios but 4/5 are the same
this gives good 3rd gear acceleration
i do 20k miles a year on mway so thats why i have another diff to put on---took me a while to come a cross a 3.73 lsd......they are rare but not as rare as 4.1 lsd..... w

I was just going to put the LSD on with the standard gearbox. Is that possible?
How easy are Sport gearboxes to get?

yes u can just put the lsd on it will be fine
i was jjust saying the gbox is another idea for closer 1st 2nd and 3rd gears...
put sport lsd on and enjoy
i have a sport gbox here with a broken bellhousing that u can have rebuilt into a new casing if u want.........u can have it for Ԛ£20
proper freshsport box is Ԛ£100(if u get lucky) to Ԛ£150

I have to get something like that (sport gearbox) for my 323i. The 2nd to 3rd gap really kills the acceleration, especially up hills. Only problem is I think 1st gear on those is really high (smaller number) which would make my car slower from a standing start. How much better is the 2nd to 3rd change, does it keep it in the power? Not sure if it would help my car or not, as far as compromising acceleration. Actually does it even fit my car? Or could mine be rebuilt with different ratios like you said? If it can I might try to find some.

I wouldn't have expected a 3.35 first to kill you off the line Aston, if it's ok atm.
