sterling silver 325i sport?

Whats the exact spec of this sport? Sounds like it could be a contender for "ultimate spec sport" what with the rarest colour and the alpina sport pack!325iSportMark wrote:That would be mine then!!Simon13 wrote:Iain Hamiltons mate had a J plater high spec one with the alpina sport pack.![]()
I saw a post on the old zone from Iain saying that his mate was selling one, and that it was in his words "the one you have been waiting for" I was getting hacked off looking at sh1te so-called minters for £3-3500so i drove 240 miles down to Portsmouth with a pocket full of cash and as soon as i saw it and drove it I knew i had to have it.
That was 4 years ago now, and I've not regretted it for a second. Recently took the tech2 kit off to see what was underneath, so now I've got a bit of tidying to do, nothing serious, just a little bit at the bottoms of the wings and a small scab on one of the sills, quite relieved really could have been a lot worse from some of the horror stories I've seen on here.
I've decided i really MUST use it a bit more this year, and get to a few more meets too

Spec-wise it's pretty decent, but ultimate spec would be a pretty bold claim. It was registered in March 1992 on a J-reg, so i suppose it is one of the last, though I have heard of a K-reg sport on here. As for the spec, here are the main highlights:bss325i wrote:Whats the exact spec of this sport? Left the factory with standard sport spec plus 6 button OBC and rear headrests and also got the roof aerial instead of on the rear 1/4
Full black leather re-trim done by a previous owner
Dealer fitted from new Alpina C2.5 pack, which consists of:
- Alpina 7j front 8j rear 16" wheels
- Alpina camshaft
- Alpina exhaust (long since replaced)
- Alpina re-map (overall performance quoted at 190bhp - backed up by 2 seperate rolling road sessions)
- Alpina suspension with offset front top-mounts
- Alpina 3 spoke steering wheel, gearknob and rear badge
I have to stress that this doesn't make it a C2-2.5, there is no numbered plaque or anything like that, but it was still about a £4,500 upgrade at the time.
I suppose it is a nice spec on it, I'm really chuffed to have found it, I love the colour, it was only after buying it i found out it's the rarest colour, which only makes it even sweeter
It doesn't have air-con or full OBC or rear blind, or a whole bunch of possible options, so i imagine there is probably a few around with better spec, and if there is good luck to them, I'm happy with mine! Hope that answers your question

And then someone put eyebrow spoilers on it. I use the word spoilers in a very literal sense of the word....
{edit} Sorry.. that sounded a bit strong. It YOUR car! Have you thought about adding some of the extras now? Every now and again something comes along thats worth adding and could have been specced from the factory, and is still in good enough condition to be bolted to such a nice car. Things like a full OBC, rear blind etc.

Those items are minor friperys which are easily obtained that can be added at any time, the alpina sport pack is a rare upgrade which incidently my old 325i covertible had but only the engine upgades of exhaust, cam and ecu. The rest was BBS alloys, Mtech suspension, LSD, blue leather etc etc.325iSportMark wrote:Spec-wise it's pretty decent, but ultimate spec would be a pretty bold claim. Your cars spec is brilliant and rare!
the guy who i bought my sterling sport of is ment to have gone out and bought another sport and it's ment to have pretty much everything, air con, cruse control, rear blinds, rhr, leather, 13 obc, mint etc... or so his brother was telling me.
I gave him my number and he said he'd pass it on if he ever decided to sell it.
Any day now i tell ya, she'll be mine
(unless she's a dog or got a silly price tag)

Mine has,
* Black leather
* Rear head rests
* 13 button OBC
* Tweeter pods
* Rear bind
* Heated seat loom is fitted just need to fit the elements and switchs.
* Cruise control is going in this weekend
* A/C. I have some of the parts to do this but wont be tackling this task till th new year.
The original aim with my sport was to upgrade it to fully optioned spec as mine was just a basic one with cloth and no options at all. Now i have decided to build it to pretty much exact C2 2.7 spec and so far it has,
* Alpina 16" alloy wheels with the wider rears
* Alpina 3 spoke Momo leather steering wheel
* Alpina wooden gearknob
* Bilsteins and eibach 40mm springs (Not alpina spec ones but the same manufacturers were used for these items)
Parts left to fit are,
* Genuine C2 2.7 engine (currently being rebuilt)
* Genuine C2 2.7 front and rear badges
* Alpina dash plaque
* Genuine alpina front spoiler with spoiler stripes
Some people say i shouldn't have done this to a mint original sport but what the hell its all easily revesible and try finding a genuine C2 2.7 thats not already f*cked or hiding a load of horrors! They are dissapearing fast!

Had to chuckle at your thoughts on the eyebrow spoilers. I know they are a bit of a marmite item on here, and i can see the arguments against them too, that's why i left them bare black plastic, so they blend in a bit more with the grille, more of a subtle mod. I have to agree that painted ones wouldn't fit in with the overall look that i like. They are fitted with trim tape anyway so I can always get rid if i grow tired of them.jaistanley wrote:And then someone put eyebrow spoilers on it. As for adding extra bits, thats something I've thought of doing a lot, it's just finding the time to source bits more than anything else thats held me back.
At the risk of hi-jacking a thread that started about sterling silver sports, it would be interesting to find out who has the most kitted out sport, my money would be on one of the hardcore e30 guys like Ian332 or e30adam or a few others.

Less is more with Sports - weight saving and all that.
My '89 Sport (which previously belonged to Flappysocks and prior to him, naylor04) has a manual sunroof wheras I gather many had electric sunroof. Originally it had an analogue clock instead of an OBC which has been (partially) retrofitted, along with rear headrests.

I thought electric sunroofs were standard on all tech2 sports?Speedtouch wrote:Less is more with Sports - weight saving and all that.My '89 Sport (which previously belonged to Flappysocks and prior to him, naylor04) has a manual sunroof wheras I gather many had electric sunroof. As said mine had ust cloth, analouge clocjk and no rear headrests but does have an electric sunroof. The spec has changed somewhat now.
Tech1's seem to be the most basic speced and what with all that oxidisation
i guess they are some of the lightest!
Mines got a/c
Along with OBC, Rear Headrests, blah blah blah etc
I gotta admit, i was missing my brothers Dolphin Grey one & was originally looking for a dolphin grey one again - but when this one come up...............well, a tidy Sterling Silver Sport is way too
to ignore..!!

headrests and obc's were extras. I was 100% sure e/s were standard but theres always one which breaks the norm.
My old sport had 1 extra ticked on it black leather. Drivers spec
but it had e/w e/s. No head rests obc cruise etc.
I've got a 1990 complete bmw range brocheur with prices for all models and standard spec for each model plus extras and the prices. I'll have a check

From what i can tell, mine has what was called the C2.5 pack which was the engine mods plus all the other bits. Not many people seem to have heard of this particular pack, but I've got a photocopy somewhere of a period alpina catalogue that another zoner RJB6 sent me ages ago that described exactly this pack with exactly the alpina goodies that are on my car.Simon13 wrote:Mark the sport pack was just the engine mods, the wheels and top mounts would of been extra if they were bought new.
I'll use the car for you if your having trouble?!
lol about using the car, I can live with that if I can use your C2 when it's finished
Seriously though, it is going to get some use this year, I've got some new springs on order with Sal, should be here in the next week, chuck them on, then get the sills sorted out, MOT then I'M BACK BABY!
