Needed some new front seats for a while and came across a pair of E28 M5 jobs, bought for a bargain price by comparison to "normal" E30 seats.
All that was needed was to swap the runners over, and that took all of about 45 minutes.

First job, locate my original seats, they're here under all the debris i'm sure :?

Once cleaned up,new seats fitted a treat,I know they're matching colour to the rest of the interior, but TBH I think they look pretty damn good.

Incidently I used an article written by Jam172 as a guide to changing the runners, but now I can't find it,but thanks Jam,great article :thumb: :thumb:

Were on our second bin of the year, they keep falling in the back of the truck! Had a new one last summer while I was doing a bit of clearing out in the back garden, must be 'compacting' it a bit too much :)

That looks like it works well. Nice one! and some E28 seats have arm rests too. Do the E28 sport seats have arm rests does anyone know?

Glad you found the article of use, it is a sticky in the Technical help, it's a bit disjointed and needs re-writing to be honest.

Oh yes, no e28 sports seats did not come with front fold down arm rests but late comfort seats did.

Your doner sports seats would have come from an E28 M535i, AFAIK all E28 M5 sports seats were electrically operated for the Uk market and bloody heavy.

Your E30 is a touring/ 4 door, it is still possible to swap E28 front seats into a 3 door E30, just a bit more work required so that the seat back tilts to allow access for rear passengers.
An E30 touring, two E28 M5's and an E28 528i.

Well, I dont jump directly on the rubbish, I find a couple of old slabs or a dozen bricks on top helps the 'compressing' :D
