another 325 electrical fault

currently putting a 1986 325is engine in a 1990 318is shell, before i took out the m20 there was no spark, now its fitted, im gettin no reading at the coil or the fuel pump...... does that mean its an ECU fault?? and if so does anyone have an ECU with the code.... 0 261 200 073?? thanks.

+ terminal of the coil is fed directly from the ignition switch, via a green wire, with three plugs and sockets along the way, but no fuses. If there's no power on the coil, start looking for an immobiliser somewhere along this line.
Testing is best done with a 12 volt 5W bulb, rather than a meter, as a meter will still read 12 volts on an unloaded cicuit, even with a series resistance of thousands of ohms.

mr moore, you are a true legend! thank you for your help, i shall get testing with a bulb asap! you might be on to something with the imobiliser as it has an alarm fitted but i dont know details on it, for all i know it could have one.

An immobiliser, IF fitted by an installer that knew what he was doing, will be connected to a two pin socket with two green wires above the middle of the glovebox. Cars without any immobiliser have a plug fitted into this socket with a short loop of green wire between its two pins.
If there's anything plugged into this socket, other than the loop, pull it out, and replace with a loop. If you're lucky, there will be just such a plug with loop tied up to the loom nearby.

i found the twin connector with the two green wires as you mentioned, there was wires from the alarm goin to it, so i took them off....no joy, looped them....still no joy! gettin annoyed now cause i just dont have a clue what it could be. anymore suggestions?? thinking on just puttin it to an auto electrician cause im stumped.

Is there 12 volts at the loop of wire with the ignition on?
