Had an interesting chat last night with Ant, and a few issues came up.
1. Getting a 330d engine to mate up to a OBC. He was saying it wouldn't get accurate readings because it would be the wrong fuel etc, but the best you could do would be just to hook it up and put in a 6 cylinder coding plug etc. I asked what coding plug the 324d/td used, and whether that would give better readings if it was specific for diesel. He didn't know but sounded interested in the idea. Anyone else?
2. Gauges. How will they mate up to the 330d electronics?
3. Customer engine configurations that would fit E30 engine bay...?
Basically with the BMW set up of the 330d engine - M57TUD30, it's got the sump and oil pump at the back - it'll need custom modding to get it round the front to fit in an E30 engine bay. (around £600 worth)
But Ant said certain companies were customers of BMW - Rover, Vauxhall, etc and they used the M57 basic engine. But he suggested they might have had a different configuration with the oil pump etc at the front, and to do some research because they might fit into the E30 engine bay with less issue. Anyone happen to know anything about these?

That's an e46 engine, isn't it? IIRC, all the dash signals are conveyed by the can-bus -> you need to integrate the e46 clocks, or run a second set of sensors.
What about x3/x5 or e65/65 sumps?

Would an M50 sump fit? The oil pick up should be easy to mod
