Hi, I've got a 1989 320i convertible. It's project one even though it runs well it needs quite a bit doing to it. I was wondering though, how water proof inside are these cars realistically. At the moment when I wash it, water gets in over the top of the door windows, is this normal or not? Do these cars tend to always let a little bit of water in, or should they be completely water proof inside?
Cheers.

not being cheeky but what way are you washing it? when i wash mine i alway's makes sure i don't "blast" water any where near the top of the window's, if i wash the roof i tend more to allow the water to just lightly shower over the roof from as high as i can hold the hose above the roof, last week i did have to "blast" the roof as i was cleaning it with Auto Glym hood & fabric cleaner and that's the only way to wash it off .. i got one very small leak from my car's roof and it was water getting under the fabric tape that covers the stiching (nothing to worry about) the only time i got water from above the door's glass is when i opened the door  .. probably something to do with no gutters on a cabby! :o:

MY TOP TIP: when you wash a cabby alway's allow the water to come from above the car, never try and spray water from a side or below angle as no doubt it'll get under the hood and wet the inside?

You can adjust the windows so they meet the top rubber strip.

And wash it as Ian above says ..

Cheers thats great. The car does need new seals, and I think I need to check if the cars windows are adjusted properly, but I did probably wash it wrong, it was having a big clean as I am applying the special cleaner, and then re-waterproofing the roof with the bme roof sealer, and this was the initial wash, so I probably sprayed the water at it a bit too hard.
