tanners on whittle road there usualy pretty good
i read somewhere that vosa have told mot stations to crackdown on corroding brake pipes. in the past a lot of places just tended to advise on them, but these days even minor surface corrosion seems to get failed.
currently replacing every single brake pipe on the GFs mk2 golf. every solid pipe and nut, and all rubber hoses for braided ones. should be fine for the next 10 years anyway.
not technically too hard to do, just a bit of a pain in the arse, especially when connections in hard to get to places are siezed solid. will be doing the e30s later in the year when it's a bit warmer...

Definitely change the hoses as well, and the V shaped clips that hold them in place. That way you can just chop all the old stuff off and avoid dealing with rusted joints.

Have always coated metal brakepipes in waxoyl - lasts for years and takes 5 mins to do - luckily the previous owners of my car had all brake pipes replaced last year so should be OK for a while...
