has it been done? i want to be a 1st to do somthing!

it should put down about 300bhp and wiegh less....

do it cant be too hard. vauxhall motor is common on escorts as well as the cossie and people have put cossies in e30's so should go in. i was thinking about putting a 2.0 ford duratec in mine but its not been done before so dont know what issues i would of come across but i say go for it.

O/T but 1 issue you might have with the ford duratec is that it's crap, theres little flaps in the plastic inlet manifold that are known to come adrift, not good for the engine at all.

On an old clarkson DVD theres a blue E30 with the C20XE vauxhall lump so its deffinatly possible to use the LET, which is vertually the same engine

I think you may need a bit of luck skill and a shoehorn... but it is something different :D

I have a 2.2 diesel turbo and the thing looks like its been squashed into the engine bay, I presume e30 engine bays are smaller?

good luck :-)

You shouldn't presume luv :D If you can fit a 5.0 v12 in you can fit a poxy 2.2 diesel or 2.0 4 pot in there.

Vauxhall and ford are rubbish 4 pot engines why would you want to ruin a bmw with one, please don't do it.

This thread is all about wrongness and people who do such a thing should be given a fine, 3 points and 10 days to remove it :D

lol i cant afford 3 more points. but i also cant afford to turbo a bm engine, so why not use the vauxh 1 i have..... thats the only reason i'm thinking of using vauxhall. as i know alot about them + its cheaper for me.

Damn right....

Though before buying the S50 I seriously toyed with the idea of fitting a Nissan SR20DET from an S14 200sx.I quite like the idea of a 2.3 Duratec on TB's too in a stripped out racer type affair. In a road car its all about te torque though... winkeye

Those Saab engines are awsome. How does the sump orientation and manifolds suit the E30?

All steel internals and very good pistons from factory. Internals are said to easily be good for 500bhp in an engine you can pick up at the breakers for pennies!
