Hi i was wondering if there is anyone out there who can help me with a few problems that i have, i have owned 3 325i (standard) and they were rapid, i have owned this 325i sport for around 5 months, when i first had it, it was ok, quite nippy and yeh did all the tricks, now it just seems to be running like a medioker car with no fun levels at all, it just seems to be very flat and takes a while to pick up some speed, i knew somthing was wrong the other day when i was going down the m6 and i had a peugeot 106 rally right up my arse, i mean c-mon is that right?? i dont think so personally, it just seems to be very slow compaired to the other 325i models that i have had, i mean i will be fair she has done 150k so i suppose she could do with a bit of a make-over but i just dont know where to start, can anyone help?? thanks

sounds like a missfire .well the first thing i would check is igniton.

check your plugs to see there condition and then look at the rotor cap and rotor to see how much shite has built up on the contacts

or your leads have almost given the ghost up

leads 80-90 Ԛ£from gsf
plugs 14 Ԛ£
and rotor and cap about 40 Ԛ£

if they look suspect change them

I agree, this sounds like it could be ignition problems. Hold fire on the leads though, I've yet to see a set that have deteriorated in the slightest.

Could well be, but ignition components are service items, and if they haven't been changed in a while, then they are the first thing to try.

Just cap and rotor, untill you prove otherwise. As I said above, I've never seen a set of dud E30 leads, and running on LPG, I would soon know if they were.

ticking on m20's is also caused by the injectors-not a lot that can be done without putting new ones in..

Its more noticeable when the engine is'under load' (ie, you're accelerating)

as for the 325 not running well, sheck it 's not over fuelling as my 320 (notorious for poor fuel consumption) will do 200 on Ԛ£30 in town
running rich can be caused by a faulty temp sensor (always seeing the engine as being cold)

even with size 12 feet, if I dont prod the loud pedal it'll do that ! can get 40 out of a Ԛ£10 if i'm "on it" tho

Are these easily accessible? I haven't looked yet!!!, as the engine I took out was fine (before the head cracked) I could nick the injectors out of that!!! may aswell seen as it won't cost me anything!!!

Sounds like it could do with a good InspectionII service by a BMW specialist. Save money in the long run as you could end up changing everything before you find the problem.

exhaust blocked? put your hand over the end of it and see how much pressure comes out when u get someone else to rev it. failing that just take the backbox off and go for a rip. that cured it on 2 previous 325's i've come across with the same problem. it may not work of course but the roadtest with no backbox is a whole load of fun :D

I agree with monsport, give it an inspection 2 and get it on the rollers to see exactly whats happening.

You will most definately get this problem identified and also lots of other problems sorted. Its the best Ԛ£250 you can spend (i think thats what an inspection 2 costs).

well shes come out of the garage today, a big problem that i have is that i have the wrong suspension fitted to it, the dosey tw*t who had it before me must have put it on, what was happening is when i was putting my foot down a bit it was making all of the front end rise or somthing, obviously this was putting more strain on the drive shaft, the springs that are on it now are that thin its inbeleivable and it was slowing the car down, he's bodged some bump stops in it for now just to show me what he meant, beleive me im telling the truth and my car now flys again!! obviously i had her tweeked a little while she was there fuel, injectors etc... and she sweet again now, only problem is now i gotta get me some more shocks and springs, can anyone reccomend a good package, also looking for around lowering it 60mm becasue on the m-tech 325i sport (which i have) the drop will become a 40mm, so really wanna loose them nasty black gap inbetween tyres and arch, any recommendations??
