Hello Forum....I am looking to upgrade my suspension. I need good advice on a whole package......springs, shocks, ARB's.
Would a Bilstein 7511 kit do the trick? Eibach ARB kit? Please point me in the right direction.
Thanks, Anders.
SUSPENSION UPGRADE FOR e30 320/325
Moderator: martauto
Mtec springs, Bilstien B8's Eibach Arb's do a search as there are loads of threads about suspention and suspention tuning. The Mtec springs are my personal reccomendation. Lots of people on here use H&R or eibach uprated springs but I dont personally like them too much.

Not sure about suspension wise, but from what read and heard, the H&R suspension kit is good, and as for the eibach arb kti, that is awesome, you will definately notice the difference.
Oh is this a road car or track... Depending on what you are going to use it for, you will need to get the right suspension kit for it, but i would still recommend you the the Eibach ARB's, you wont be sorry....

What kind of driving are you doing and over what kind of surfaces?
Do you need alot of ground clearance?
Do you care about ride quality?
What is your budget?
Give the above details and myself and a few others on here will suggest some options for you.
Thanks
Sal

hello forum.....I would just like to stiffen things up a bit. Something like 30/40, 25/30 should do fine. I drive on normal roads/highway............I think I have settled on the eibach arb system....seems pretty fine.......just can't get to grips with rest(springs/shocks)
Keep the info coming............I will write in all down and do a bit of research.......
regards, Anders.

B8 dampers for sure.
The springs:
The H&R's are progressively coiled at the front whereas the Eibach's are linear.
From experience the Eibach's give better progression and ride quality with the B8's.
The H&R's are more aggressive.
Some argue that one is better than the other, I'd say it's more like what people's preferences are.
They both lower a realistic 40mm all round.

How do they? You just said they were linear.. Were you trying to say something else? Or have i confused the meaning of progressively wound?M5pilot wrote:B8 dampers for sure.

Cars is a bit learning by doing I have found out...
My first Beemer I changed the shoks from oil to gas and then I fited some cheap lowering springs from GSF who was allight on that car but a bit to stiff tbh... Now on my second Beemer I use standard shocks and springs from H&R but I do think I will need to replace my shocks to something who is better like Bilstein.
I do think springs like Eibach or H&R in a compination with some nice Bilstein is doing the trick to make the E30 to be an even better car today....

Bilstein are the best dampers in the world, bar none. Boge Sachs come a close second. Konis used to be good but I've heard some bad stuff about them lately.
Then you have Apex, Jamex etc. The least said, I think........
My E32 is running 40mm Koni springs and Hartge Bilstein M5 3.6 dampers (front) and E23 Bilsteins on the back.

standard mtec springs with uprated shocks and eibach ARB's are the best setup i have found for road use. Its still comfortable and very driveably. The 60mm drop I have now has a little too much understeer and too rough over speed humps for everyday use.
There was some issues in the old days back when I lived in Norway and that was Alfa 33 with Jamex springs, they was not very nice to drive and ofen they went off the road...Andyboy wrote:Bilstein are the best dampers in the world, bar none.
