Is that OK with everyone? It'll be between 1/2 and 3/4 hour from Rownhams, assuming we won't be pushing the ton...

Meet at 11am at Rownhams, and around 11.15 at Winchester? How's that peeps? :D
PMSL - Yes Gord you do need a start don't you? winkeye :D

Will be on Sunday 30th at Midday.
Meeting at the carpark next door to the Wheatsheaf pub on the A30 at Virginia Water. Postcode GU25 4QF for those with Satnav.

Thanks to Simon13 for the location.
If thats the location I think it is, ie where Pistonheads did their recent BMW meet and Simon was in attendance then im interested as its near my dads place, could see the old guy and attend a meet on the Sunday

Hey im already on the list
tannerman8807 wrote:Ill in though just a word of warning you have to pay to get into the car park not sure of the current charge but remember this is Vergina water so it anit cheap!
Last time I went there you take a ticket on entering the car park and pay when you leave but the first hour or so is free, you only have to pay if you stay over the first hour.

If the carpark isn't full of diggers...

I have just heard that the carpark is being resurfaced, so I'll phone the pub next door in the morning and see if I can find out any more.

Someone somewhere is determined to screw this meet up... First BMW at Bracknell, now this...

Watch this space guys, we may need to re-locate.

Gortour, I PM'd you...

I have a place I mentioned earlier/elsewhere that will take about 40/50 cars, is opposite a hotel and next to a service station with shop. Good roads in the area is central. Post code ox25 if you want to look on Google, Hopcroft Holt is the name of the place. It's a classic car restoration business. I can make this available for either the saturday or the sunday in question. If that's any help? :D

No PM received mate, :( Sounds great though. Oxford may not be too bad, only down the M4 from the last meet, or up the A34 from this area.

Appreciated Lance, very grateful for the help. Will have a look.
Any other suggestions welcome, would be nice to have two options the way this meet is going...

Thanks to all for suggestions.

Lance, I've been looking at the satellite pics on Google maps.

I assume the hotel is on the corner on the rhs with a triangular carpark in front, the service station is just past it on the left, and the car park is just past the service station, also on the left, large square area, behind the row of cars on the edge of the road.

That looks amazing mate, well done, excellent suggestion. Any cruise routes in the near vicinity? Doesn't necessarily have to 'go' anywhere, a large circle and back to the carpark will do, unless you have any ideas of where to take us.

OX25 5QQ for those wanting the full postcode.

Many thanks again for that Lance. :thumb:

Hi mate,

Well the new carpark has only been finished for just about six months and is behind the car sales area.

There are a few really nice cruise and blast roads not too far from here, in particular the road from Deddington via Chipping Norton to Shipston on Stour is Fecking fantastic! Or if you don't want to go that far the road from the venue out to Enstone is a real hoot too! :D But depends on what you call good roads...some may find that the country roads are not too 'dropped suspension friendly' but there are enough what I call 'blast' roads about here for sure. It might pay someone to pop over and check it out prior to any decisions being made. I intend on installing BBQ/picnic facilities within the next few months too as the aim is to make this into a regular venue on the classic calender.

Hi mate,
Won't have a chance to get up there before the event, but I'd guess at looking at about 30 miles, half hourish route tops?
Shipston on Stour route looks good, is there somewhere at that end to stop, or would it be a round route back the the start point?
Looks roughly 16ish miles on the map from the meet to Shipston, and a bit more back via B4035 and A4260...

So the plan could be meet to Enstone, to Chipping Norton to Shipston on Stour...

There's a few pubs in the area and all along the way really, not forgetting that there are three pubs within spitting distance of the venue, I stopped at the Masons Arms just outside Chipping Norton on the way back from a cruise the other day but it's a bit more food oriented than anything. I'm not really a pub type person but Andyboy knows the area too. And I am sure others on here do as well. The Holt Hotel across the road has an outside seating area.

Gord - if we take this option (and I think we should even though it is further for us - any guy who is setting up a permanent meet venue for cars classics or otherwise deserves our support ) then can I suggest you start a new thread specifically aimed at the Midlands boys pointing to this thread

The venue is in very easy reach of particularly the Brum crowd

Someone posted a link with more details of the work at Virginia Waters.
http://www.theroyallandscape.co.uk/pres ... 20Park.cfm

The important bit is "The car park will remain open throughout the works"

Just read that bit too Paul,

So we now have a choice guys and girls.

Do we go for Virginia Water or Oxford?

PLEASE let me know ASAP if there is a preference. Otherwise, I'm likely to stick with the Virginia Water meet, rather than changing it at the last minute - assuming there is enough room for us all with the works going on.
Is someone near enough to go and have a quick nosey please?

If Oxford is chosen, very good point about attendance from the Midlands boys Richard, I'll start a thread inviting them too.

Cheers all for your help.

Given the choice, at this late stage I'd rather stick with Virginia Water too, provided the carpark can accomodate us all still.
Can anyone do a drive past and confirm this please? Is someone near to it?

Please guys, need to know if the carpark is usable asap...

(Lance, your location looks great for a meet, but don't really want to change at short notice.
I'll gladly help you set up a meet there for some time in the near future.) :thumb:

No worries mate, was only offering as an alternative should the VW venue not work out due to construction.

I will be advertising meets here for Zoners, PH'ers and Chewthefat'ers as well as the usual classic car meets.
So if you guys are ever stuck for a venue, give me a buzz. Cheers. :D
