Yes Ive been naughty! Hypocrasy and spelling isnt my strong point but sometimes we all do it.

However the venue was the long back straights of docklands where its totally DEAD.

E30Pilot in his 325i touring and myself went there to test out my red touring against his (his always pushes 170 bhp at bexleys).

We lined up on the very long straights and planted it in sync.

To my surpirse the red shed was actually slightly quicker at top end.

We only got upto rev limiter in 3rd as beyond that we both felt we would be going at speeds which were a bit too fast even though it was a dual carraige way.

And then along comes a 328i Cab! Both of us thought we were going to beaten silly and there was a huge straight ahead but the E36 didnt shine. Infact it got beaten as we slowly pulled away.

Next straight.........same thing happens! 328i gets beaten!

Anyway, great safe fun and I'm serioulsy impressed with this red touring!

I might just keep it. :D

No, the geezer pulled up besides me and he wasnt the cop type at all. He didnt look very happy either and burnt off at the next roundabout trying to show that he had lots of power.....NOT!

This is not a 2.7, this is a stock 325i with a Scorpion DTM back box.

Bexley Motorworks had a the car when they were fitting the gearbox and also said it was very quick for a 325i. Ive drven alot of 325i's and I know a majoroty of them will make around 160bhp even with zone chips and BBTB's etc due to fuellig problems and other running problems.

Sometimes certain cars just have everything working as it should and they are the ones that put down 170 bhp and even more sometimes.

I am going to open the ECU and see if its got some sort of chip in it. I doubt that though because the limiter is at where all stock limiters are.

Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed being quicker than a 328i!

I think this car deserves a turbo.

Its a great place because there's usually zero traffic on sundays and late night down there.

Ive raced 328i before in my 2.7 Alpina and whooped them everytime in every gear and every speed. My 2.7 had long gearing aswell (3.64 LSD).

Somehow, and I dont really understand this E36 325i's put down alot more power on the road than 328i's.

Remember, this 328i was a cab and maybe its the extra weight. If it had been a coupe maybe it would have closed the gap a bit.

Having driven a 328i Sport and a 328i SE I dont think they are any quicker than 325i pushing out 170 bhp. They certainly dont feel any quicker. They are much better off the line though but once moving about the same as a good 325i.
