stero and earthing fault

hi

I, ve just been putting in a new apline stero system in my e30 cab It all worked before I locked it in place. and then when locked in place nothing turn on but there is power going to the system. also now the rev/ecmony gauge gose ape shit when you either open or close the door or turn the interior light on.

any ideas

also has a bmw alarm think i read some where the alarm cuts the power to the stero or something but could be wrong.

please help me

Wrong section mate.

I can tell you that you've blown a fuse. I've done this twice to mine, when you open the door, the rev counter drops to 0, close the door and the rev counter starts working again.

you been messing with the earth studs at the back right of the glove box? Loads of brown wires going to them.
Alarm cuts power to the stereo???????????

andy I have replaced the blown fuse but problem is still there and how did you sort the rev counter thing out.?

Both times my rev counter played up was down to me popping the fuse when fitting stereo components, changed the fuse the rev counter worked again.

I've seen some perculiar alarm installs in my time, but never one that cuts off the radio power.
If your radio is connected as BMW intended, then it should connect by a four pin vertical plug into the accessoried socket at the back left of the glovebox. It plugs in neat the top left of the socket, the only place it will fit.
Check that the nut(s) I mentioned above securing all the brown wires are tight.
If your alarm installer knew what he was doing, all the alarm connections to the car loom should be in this area as well.
