Can anybody direct me in the right direction on this please, my power is not working the car is a E30 318i 1991 ANY IDEAS WHERE TO START.

first stop check fuses and relay not sure which relay but should say in the dodgy old haynes book gdluck mate Daz

1) be very VERY careful
2) open the boot and disengage the 2 motors - one is fairly central and the other main one is on the right - if you want, pull out (carefully) the trim/lining/carpet etc to make it easier
3) open the top CAREFULLY SLOWLEY by hand; push the very front up, then lift the back section of the roof, then the 'lid', whilst standing at the drivers side - you should be able to see the mechanism now
there's a main rod running front-rear from the hood frame to the body via a funny shaped 'gear' which rotates in a horizontal plane; is this torn out?
