Seriously, for what is middle of the road E30 M3 prices, this just could not be ignored. Some better alloys and this thing would be perfection.

Looks awesome and as if its totally original - apart from the alloys - I thought all M6 cars had the TRX cross spokes from the factory?
If you had ordered that car new would you have chosen and kept those wheels ?

Shame about the starship miles, price reflects i suppose, looks good though. Gotta be worth that money though if the cars as good as the photos.

I suppose a timing chain service looms, which is not a pretty number to have to deal with
I actually started looking at this which they have for sale

I like the alloys too - but they don't look like they belong on an M6 - on a standard mint 635csi they would be spot on.Speedtouch wrote:Very cool, manual too. I like the alloys personally

Some UK M635s came with those 390 alloys as standard with the 415s as an option. I'd say they're correct for that particular car as it has no wheel arch extensions to take the wider tyres. Not to say that they shouldn't be ditched for something more appropriate.
Anybody seriously interested in buying this car should PM me first or take a look at a similar thread on bigcoupe.com.

To be fair, at nearly 200000 miles I wouldn't be bothering with a timing chain. It's 80000 miles past where you'd want to get it done. I'd assume that it has been done or it's not going to break now.E30BeemerLad wrote:I suppose a timing chain service looms, which is not a pretty number to have to deal with

My understanding is that these timing chains are a 100,000 mile service item. I would expect on a motor of that quality the first set has been replaced,a further set will be required at 200,000 miles.Seem to remember that it is an engine out job on the closely related E28 M5 so I would only buy if this job was included in the sale price....

I know this car and unless it's had work done recently, there's more to worry about than the timing chain.
It's not an engine out job.
It's not worth spending the money(£1500) on a chain job at 200000 miles if you don't know the previous history.
Put it away for the rebuild that'll be due at 250000 - 300000
