Havin issues with getting megasquirt to talk to the laptop and visa versa.. usb is supposed to be set to 9600 bits but only seems to want to converse when set to the higher speeds, and then it comes up with a lack of voltage issue when you want to burn a map

now its not talking to it at all, or when it does comes up with an error instead "controller code version doesnt match signature in.."MSNS-Extra

It expects something but receives "" from the controller

Anyone got any ideas/can make sense of this?

the firmware and Megatune version need to match dude.

What hardware are you running?? installed code varaint and firmware??

You want MT2.25 setup for msns-E ( open the car1 folder and check/tweak the MTCFG file with notepad and resave with the same filename

then try to connect again, it sounds like the ECU itself is on its default Ms1 setting with the OE MS1 firmware on there.

you'll need to download the MSnS-E firware to the unit, use the latest stable release, 029y4 I think , the you should be able to populate the tables and get started :thumb:

Re the USB , yes its a PITA, and if you're using a stim and 9V batt to flash, you'll have real issues as the burn voltage is much higher than the PP9 can provide more than once.
the Baud rate is dependant on hardware Ms1 or 2

All good fun :D

hit Extraefi.co.uk for the MT downloads and current firmware.

hardware configuration needs checking too, you can usuually eyball most of the jumpered configs with the top case off.

Right, still cant get past the Voltage too low to burn issue.. We've got the ecu to talk to the computer using a serial cable, but cant get it to burn a map still

you need 12.5 V to burn firmware or maps reliably dude.

PP9 dont cut it, use a proper 12V batt dude and all should be well.

Well my housemate has had it attached to a 12v battery today.. He's been able to change firmware, load the 6 pot contraints (still says low voltage) but it wont let him burn a map.. Its also very inconsistant as to connecting to the laptop

Apparently last night it was turning the fuel pump on, but now isnt today

Im thinking there might be a prob with the build he's done

(Ive had no involvement in this, other than trying to sort issues when they've occured..)

quite often it will talk @ 115200 baud rate but not the 9600 rate it should (MS-1)

should D14/15/16 i think it is (diodes) be alight the whole time? There might be an earth issue.. I currently have it communicating with the ecu @57.6 and 115.2k rates, but no lower..
