Back to the cracking e30
Moderator: martauto
Hi folks back in a bmw e30 1989 318i 4dr, same owner for last 17 years all previous mot's full service history, even the interior is mint, no tears on drivers seat. Was on the lookout for one and the missus of all people spotted it for sale in warrington, just spent £270 on it and i am well chuffed with it. Just flew through it's mot only needed a new tyre
After driving the later models of the 3 series and z3's mercedes c class saloon and coupe it is good to be back.
Will post some pics when i have minted it up.
Got the car for £485 and fully comp insurance £200
Happy Days
Kurt

A mechanic once told me its the tappets.
The 316i and 318i tend to be noisy like that

Cheers fella, will change tappets next week as doing the cam belt and fuel pump this week. Will let you all know if this solves the noise.james318i wrote:my 318i has had a top end rebuild and its still a bit clicky , most of its the injectors i think , obviously i cant hear your car but there not a mechanically quiet thing from my experiance of them

Whilst you have the front of the engine apart for a cambelt change(good thinking on a new purchase BTW) it will be easy to swap the cam/rockers/lifters as required. Not a difficult job,I managed to do it without wrecking the engine!! Your local GSF will have/get the bits,or our tame dealer zimmer bimmer will mail order for you in two days.Welcome to the zone.
Youth is wasted on the young.
thanks for that, too late as did the cambelt today, tappets and fuel pump hopefully next week.daimlerman wrote:Whilst you have the front of the engine apart for a cambelt change(good thinking on a new purchase BTW) it will be easy to swap the cam/rockers/lifters as required.
