Thats what i thought, same as bump steer. Changing height of engine will alter front axle roll centre which in turn might alter toe, but only if the front suspension and steering hardpoints are crap in the first place (which i think are ok?)

I am not using the kit, you mentioned it first and I tried to get hold of one. But they didn't know what I was talking about.

On the invoice it's listed as "ABUTMENT KIT" which suggests it's designed to sit on the OE spring seat. I'll be cutting most of that off anyway, to save weight; when the kit arrives I'll decide whether to remove the whole seat and weld the threaded tube to the strut. It may be best to leave enough to locate it, then weld :?

What is the point in the above welding , cutting etc etc , seems like a big mess around to me why not just buy a proper kit . ? ? ?

ive played with engine alignment etc, subframe lowering bla bla bla.. and trust me DO NOT go there. with my s38 i had to drop the subframe 20mm sop the engine would fit under the bonnet. i do believe however that the e28 m5 mounts are often used... stiffer and very slightly taller.not tall enough that they nwould warrant rasing the gbox up also to correctdriveline alignment.

as everyone else says though... get a nice sumpguard on there

How do you think H&R etc. make what you term "proper kit"?

Clue: there's a reason they ask for your OE front struts in exchange and charge you extra if you can't/won't supply them.

It's much cheaper to do it myself and I'll have done it myself. For many people on here, myself included, the second reason is enough by itself 8)

i will in the nr future, however my silvia needs some love and attention at the moment as the trackday at bedford warped my front discs... steering rack bushes are worn too. basically funds not allowing at the moment. Will have to live with a soft e30 for a while. its my road car and i dont really rag it around so i have yet to tackle the brakes and suspension on it.

would rather get my silvia ready to go out on track at the moment to be honest

the big difference between a GAZ kit and the DIY solution is the lack of damping adjustment the GAZ offers. Longterm the GAZ is the better investment, they can be rebuild, revalved for very little money and modified to your requirements. Not saying Bilstein/Koni can't, but it's a lot more hassle finding somebody to do the job.
