I wondered, after reading a thread about cracked heads, how often you service your car,if at all!
Since i've had mine..........
150,148 Oil & filter
156,738 Oil & filter
164,757 Oil & filter
171,031 Oil & filter
171,755 Coolant flushed and replaced
172,779 Gearbox and diff oil,coolant
174,605 Front brake pads
175,250 Rear brake pads
179,540 Spark plugs renewed and Co2 levels adjusted
179,002 Renewed rear shocks
179,002 Oil & filter
180,753 Fuel injection cleaner added to tank
180,940 Valve clearances adjusted
181,440 Oil & filter
181,440 Air filter replaced
183,121 Coolant flushed and replaced
187,989 Oil & filter
193,838 Oil & filter
195,880 Spark plugs renewed
195,880 Fuel injection cleaner added to tank
200,314 Oil & filter
207,287 Oil & filter
207,827 Coolant flushed and replaced
213,874 Fuel injection cleaner added to tank
215,955 TB & AFM stripped and cleaned
217,127 Oil & filter
And yes you've probably noticed the cam belt hasn't been done yet, well it's on it's fifth belt and probably wants doing this year really,oh and the brake fluid will get done in the next few weekends.
Aside from the shocks and brake pads, the basic engine servicing doesn't add up to very much, and for piece of mind,it's worth getting oily and dirty the odd saturday to keep the motor tip top.
How often do you service your motors then?
I'm only talking servicing and general maintenance, not mods of any kind.
Servicing an all that...............

I usually follow the service indicators for Inspections I & II and then add oil (engine & gearbox) changes before and after I go on track plus adressing any resultant brake wear issues. I also change the plugs very regularly. Then whenever there's a wear and tear repair it gets the once over too. I do all the niggly little bits myself - wiper motor, heater blower, sunroof, seats, etc - otherwise all service work/tuning/repairs get done by Bexley.
Thinking about it, the sport gets about 3 Inspection Is and 1 Inspection II a year plus the track bits.

I did gave my car a full service before the head went porous! LOL Talk about a waste of good oil and coolant etc. Oh well.
I usually do the oil every 3-5k on my cars. Probably no need to do it this often but it wont do any harm.
Everything is going to be changed when I put the new head on.

I'm always amazed by the weight difference between the old and new oil filter after only a few thousand miles.
Even with the old filter thoroughly drained theres a hell of a difference.

Never really thought about it before but its true. They are quite heavy when you first take them off compared to the fact that they weigh almost nothing when new.

I guess it's carbon and metallic deposits, just think of all that grinding up your engine if you never bothered to change the filter

Since I got my car in Feb 2005 at 87k
its had
88k- new discs and pads all round, new flexi pipes/new rear brakepipes/new Fluid.
89k- new oil, filter,coolant flush
think i'll keep this routine up-next thing on the agenda is a new exhaust
oil changes every 6k will be the norm, and a service II every year.
I'll probably change the plugs every 10k, and the coolant too (although I have the 2.0 so a more 'stable' head)
