Check your wheels for damage etc. Inform the council whether you have damage or not. If any other person happens to fall foul of the same damage, the coucil IS liable for any repair.
This is one of the biggest areas that council are paying compensation for....it makes you wonder why our local council are not shouting louder to have the roads repaired with assistance of the Ԛ£36Billion Gordon gets every year from us drivers in our Road Fund Licence alone.
As for your car stopping, it certainly sounds as if something came loose temporarily, I would check the earths, battery leads (boot or bonnet location/both) and I would also check the ECU's

Nostrils is 100% bang on.
I got Ԛ£600 form the council for damage similar to this 3 years ago. They will argue but you will win your case hands down.

Thanks for the replies; i thought it may be an earthlead fault and if i remember correctly there's about 3 all over the place ,didn't dawn on me to check the positive lead as with some engines you can run them with no battery attached although definetly not recommended but lo and behold the positive was loose
so another problem solved , if i could get rid of my clutch judder as easily i'd be well chuffed ,. Cheers all Keith

Regarding the hole , i wouldn't hold out any hope of the council being interested , my dear old mum tripped down a hole in a road a few years backand they did their best to get out of it and suceeded, I'm really not into this compensation culture as imo it's ruining this country but only for someone to take a grip on whats going on out there (rant over)

Dont't want to worry you, but I can't see why the engine would stop with a disconnected battery lead, as long as the revs didn't drop to idle.keith52 wrote:didn't dawn on me to check the positive lead as with some engines you can run them with no battery attached although definetly not recommended but lo and behold the positive was looseso another problem solved , . Also, I would expect some fireworks when trying to restart with the lead loose.
