I myself use a tescos 6Litre plastic milk carton to carry my emergency water and it sits securely behind the off side headlamp cover and the washer bottle. Also if your headlamp cover has lost the twist connectors that hold it on the bottle holds the cover in place. Cool.

My emergency water supply is my bladder,always got a litre or two of "refined coffee" in it!
Plus it's warm,you wouldn't want to put cold water in hot engine!

Keeping the bottle in the engine bay should keep the water warm anyway!

Which should be obvious really, nobody could stand driving a brown car for more than a few weeks

I just keep a 2l bottle of water in the rear wheel well (gotta love the tourings
) and some antifreeze (gotta keep the head from rusting
)
