Ive just installed my 2.7i engine & 325i engine wiring loom into a 91' 316i shell.
I just plugged the engine bay loom into the car loom connector on the bulkhead and now she turns over but doesnt fire.
The fuel pump isnt working & theres no spark, ive checked & have power at the coil.
Is there some pins which need swaping in the connectors ? It seems that the ecu has no power aswell & I have no battery light on the dashclocks.
All help apreciated. Thanks.
316i to 325i loom pinouts help!

Have you made sure you have both small terminals bolted to the Batt +?

Is there power on the plain red wires at the engine relays?

Yes all battery terminlas are correct & theres power at the relays, its just as if the ecu is getting no power feed.
Is it possible that theres a pin that needs swapping at the c101 connector?

No pins should need swapping. Straight plug and play.
If you have power at the ignition coil, the ECU must be getting the switch on signal, which should switch on the main DME relay. Fuel pump relay should only pull in when the engine turns.
Have you connected the engine loom earth wire to the top of the RH suspension turret?

Yes connected the engine bay earth wire, i'll double check it tomorrow & check all the powersupplies & earths.
I thought it was plug & play but I must have missed something somewhere.
Is there a diagram of the c101 connector pins anywhere on here? ive tried various searches but to no avail.
Thanks for the help so far.

It is, with the one proviso that I have detailed in my sticky 'engine swaps wiring warning', which shouldn't be relevant to a '91 car.carl325i wrote:I thought it was plug & play .

Thanks for all your help guys, ive finally sussed it.
Checked various connectors ect with my voltmeter & it turns out that the earth on the dme relay was live, not sure how & why but could maybe be a faulty or damaged loom.
So I refitted the original loom I had & all the wires gave me the correct readings, also the relays were clicking as they should. But it still wouldnt fire but luckily I have a spare ecu which solved the problem. It now starts & runs perfectly.
Im not too sure about why the loom was faulty or why the ecu didnt work but after some tinkering & help from you guys its sorted.
Now I can get on with rebuilding the rest of the car. I'll update with some pics shortly.
