As My 535i engine/box etc is being delivered next week I thought I would make a start on getting the 2.5 out!

Didn't get very far as it started to piss down!

Few pictures of my progress (or lack of!) I will keep them coming as the project develops!

Took the "leather look" seats out first!

Rocker cover is nothing to do with me!!

Wish I had a garage!!

Bit of rust but nothing I cant sort when the engines out!

i suggest beefy's engine mounts as they will save you Ã‚£Ã‚£'s. position 3 is the best imo

but the bulk head will need some........adjusting

hope to get mine back on the road very soon! it would be nice by the start of next month.

you will be hard pressed to find and m3 prop. if you can find a place you can connect your e34 prop (gearbox end) to the 325i prop (diff end)

its a good conversion if it ever gets finished

There was a Group A M3 prop floating around on ebay for Ã‚£200, not sure if its still there. I have the 535i prop and my old 325i one so will they be compatible in the middle and fit??

Mine will definitely be getting finished.......... if it ever stops raining!!!!

maybe im not the best person to ask about the props

na in honestly you need the gearbox side of the e34 prop and the rear section of the 325i prop with the centre bearing.

you have to get the engine in place (where your really happy with it) then cut the front end of the 325i prop and the e34 prop to the length you need.

lets see what pic's i have?

you need to ONLY CUT ONE SECTION! i got this wrong and did both sections because i thought the e34 centre bearing is stronger......its just the same.

so you cut the gearbox end on both props after some measurments and send it somewhere to get joined and balanced.

do a search on the web or call a few places near you as i found a place i could drop the prop in and pick up the next day. Ã‚£60 for each tube.

Well as it stopped raining today I managed to get on the touring again! What I wouldn't give for a garage!!

Complete engine turned up yesterday

Got the engine and box out complete

As you can see, I had a bit of a problem getting the prop undone... so I chopped it off!

Give this a good clean up tomorrow!

Few good bits to salvage from the 2.5, made a start before it got dark

Thats it for today, was to dark to carry on! I'm going to get on it again tomorrow as long it isn't raining. Got to sort out the prop, got the full 535i prop and whats left of mine, got the full exhaust to so should be able to weld something to suit! Just got to order my mounts off beefy and shouldn't be that long before I'm bolting the 3.5 in!!

Got bored waiting for the rain to stop so just carried on, cant really do much until my mounts are here so I stripped the 2.5 for bits, got carried away (and soaked)!!!

you will be impressed with the mounts if of beefy there very good. ive just been putting my 335 cab back together today nearly there now

Definitely going with beefys mounts, just a bit strapped for cash at the minute!!

Hoping I can sell some of the 2.5 bits to fund them!

Have you driven yours yet or been in a 335i? I really want to know just how well they go!!

i have drove it about 50 yards but not at a great speed lol. according to ric325 who also has 1 they go very very well and his mate gall has 1 that is very quick 2. ive just got the git a new suspension set up to do now then it should be ready

i had a 325i then i went in Gall's and thought 'right game on' the power delivery was just so different!

the torgue is the best thing compared to 2.5. thing is when mine was done i just wanted more instantly. its not that much more than the 2.5 in some ways

ive never had a blast on a country road in 335i so i cant say how fun they are there. the 325i was my b-road worrier and if kept in the revs i had not had a better car for it, better than my 205 Mi16!

the 335i is great for breaking traction! they just cut loose (stop singing) its very different.

you need to start it. scare the entire city/ place you live. Jaffro started his every 10mins with no exhaust. loved it.

New wheels arrived today (cheers georob)

Looks stupid high but there isn't an engine in it so i am sure it will look fine when its down, well happy with the rims!!

Should have mounts ordered soon and 3.5 in place!!

Glad your happy with the wheels bud, it'll be looking good when you get it finished!!

Got my mounts so thought I better crack on with the touring, didn't get a great deal done but at least the 3.5 is now where it should be!!

Pictures aren't to great as it was getting dark........................

Trying to line the mounts up on the rubbers was a bit tricky, got some issues with steering clearance to sort out, rad, fan, prop..................... fair bit I reckon!!! Still at least its in the bay at last!!!

Well after a few minor wiring headaches this morning I did manage to get the 3.5 running, all be it without a manifold!!!
I was buzzing when it fired up, although I have done a few engine swaps (like for like) this is my first conversion!!!

Sounds like a monster/bag of crap with no exhaust but should be able to get on it with the welder this week and get it sorted!

Can't wait to drive it now!!!!

I did take a short vid of it running so I will get it up when its uploaded to youtube.

Thanks to everyone for the advice this morning aswell!!!

nice one jay!

its class getting it going! you dont have to have a 328i prop you can get the e34 one cut and matched to a e30 one.

with the fan just get round the scrappy's and search for a aircon fan that tall and slim. i think someone is using a vectra fan or something like that?

just a large leccy fan.

i hope to have mine swapped into a 2 door shell by the sunday night, if all goes well.
