i did some plates at work for my mk2 golf gti i had couple of years back.
on the back one i put "bite my shiny metal ass" (as in what bender the robot says on futurama) on the bottom.

funniest thing is, after id done mine, our car sales man (at the time) did some plates for 3 sales cars that were going out.......... yep, no-one noticed, even the dumb kid putting the plates on the cars, all six of them............. till a customer complained! funny as fukk, i couldnt stop laughing! even as i got a verbal warning for doing my own plates on the sly! (busted!) :D

My Capri used to have "I know its a heap but its my heap and its in front of you" on the back plate

i was tempted to get "drift slut" on the back of mine as a nice big piss take byt decided just "SLUT" suited it better

messages on number plates should be held in the same high regard as 'funny' bumper stickers and 'little princess on board' signs.

I always warn my customers that it may be funny today, but will soon wear off off in a few weeks.

I may put www.e30zone.net at the bottom of my plates that I am finishing today, but noting more than that.

I don't like slogans, especially when you get three letters on the plate that are someones initials and their slogan is an explanation of it:

**** KAB was in front of me the other day and obviously, 'Karen Anne B*ll' wanted the world to know that they are her intials so she had that printed underneath and she obviously doesn't mind the world having a note of her full name and registration.

Worse are the ones who have tried to make a word from dubious letters that 'Nearly' spell a word, "If you squint", but then underneath is the explanation of it.

I still think that a set of plates made by the BMW dealer looks the best, with the local dealers details at the bottom - the graphics they use are understated and suit the car very well.

I know its the law so the police can trace who made the plate but its still advertising to me. Its like buying a car from a car dealer who puts their stickers in the window.

Someone wants to advertise their business on my car then you pay me.

Ive only ever had one car that had a message on the plate.

I spent 6 1/2 years restoring a 1969 ford mustang mach 1. The plates i put on the car were american size black with silver digits. The message i decided on was "Blood Sweat and Tyres" this i lifted from a picture of a US army guntruck of the same name that served in vietnam 1969. I thought it appropriate for all the stress and hard work that went into the car! Trust me ill never do it again!!

The only time i ever had any troble with the law was when they followed me along a duel carriageway, they then drew up along side and caught me on their camera..the one on his mobile phone that is!!

I sold the mustang last year to make way for the M3 and a new kitchen. Unfortunately the M3 has now been sold and replaced with a 325i touring and a better looking bank balance!

If i knew how to put up pics ill put some of the mustang on.
