wheel hub adapters?

Got some e36 5 stud bbs 17' split rims[off the 328is coupe 7.5 front 8.5 rear] and want to put them on my e30 325i sport....what adapters will i need size pcd ect...found some on ebay for £75 but says 5x100 or 5x130 but i thought my 17's were 5x120? bit confused,will they fit on at all after all this?

Can anyone tell me if you can get 5*120mm E30M3/5series to E36 adaptors. I assume you can..
The reason I ask is that after robbing my every day car of E30M3 front struts for my project car i was toying with the idea of a cheap E36 front strut swap. Naturally then I'd want E36 whels all round (and also have a set of those BBS's spare) and the rears on my car (E30M3) would need adaptors......

both e30 m3 and e36 use the same 5x120mm pcd. the difference is in the wheel offsets.
you can use e36 wheels on an e30m3, but you'll need spacers as e36 offset is around 20mm higher than e30m3, so e36 wheels need approx 20mm spacer to push them out and make them et20 wheels.
you can't go the other way as you cant take 20mm worth of metal off the back of an e30m3 wheel to turn it into an et40 e36 fit wheel.
you can buy 20mm 5x120pcd hubcenric spacers, either the usual type that bolt between wheel and hub and use long bolts, or the sort that bolt into the hub using special bolts, and you then bolt the wheel to the spacer with the standard bolts. h&r make them.
as far as i know, you can't get 4x100 to 5x120mm adapters because the bolt holes overlap. you can do 4x100 to 5x100 as the diameter is the same so you can share one bolt hole. 4x100 to 5x130mm orks because the 130mm pcd is far enough out that the holes don't clasjh with each other.
i suppose you could use a 4x100 to 5x100 adapter, then stacka 5x100 to 5x120 adapter on top, but it'll push the wheels out by about 40mm

Dont E30M3's and E36's have a different diameter spigot in the middle, requireing adaptors that space to give the correct off set and increase this diameter?

e39 5 series deffo has a slightly different centre bore, but it's larger than the e36 / m3 so you can still fit newer wheels to older cars with some cheap spigots. i think some of the other newer ones may also use the same slightly larger centre bore as the e39.

a company on ebay maybe wheels uk said that they can do 4 x 100 to 5 x 120 adaptors for 400 but they are 30mm thick, the only way these will work is if you get some wheels that have high offsets, porsche wheels are the best bet as they commonly have high offsets and the adaptors are cheaper and wide wheels are common in 5 x 130.

I might be an overly catious engineer type but I look at the things and they just send waves of paranoia and chav esq guilt running through me! I have a hard enough time trying to justify to myself the manufacture of adaptors that are going to sit behind my brake disks (on my E30M3 hubs to allow the use of E36 M3 disks). Thats three interface surfaces that have to be machined parallel. Not easy! Then the adaptors have these little stud things tightened inside them.. it all just makes me uneasy. I have visions of wheel wobble and eventual catastrophic failure. Perhaps it's just paranoia though.

E36 hubs can't. There is a way of fitting either Z3 or Z3M rear arms and E36 M3 front STRUTS to allow the use of E36 5 stud wheels...
