My mate has one on his M50 Turbo, he said he's waiting for it too crack up and fall apart :D

I gave him some stick for it as compared with his other manifolds on his meastro's and Mitsi starion's it's a dog.

He's still using it tho, so for now it's holding up to it's end of the bargain

with all these tubular manifolds on turbos ure gonna get cracks... worse on 4 pots than 6 pots due to less support on turbo

id buy it at that price to be honest, as thats a bargain for a bmw part. brace the bugger from the turbo flange to the head flange in a few places, stiff engine mounts, stiff exhaust mounts and it should last!

I've seen quite a few of these mass produced manifolds with extra support welded in, some add the provision for a external wastegate which usually means an inherent increase in strength too.

For the money you'd be silly not too, just be aware they have been known to fail in ways that you wouldn't normally expect. Cracking is a FI issue all the time but thin cheap steel and rushed welding doesn't help.

There are some rather tasty options tho:

hello mark, didnt use that manifold in the end! There designed for a left hand drive car, they sit the turbo down where the steering coloum is on the right hand drive, can be turned upside down but you need to either rework the t3 out let or make an adaptor usig 2 t3 flanges, and it will still probably fall apart if you do! i used a turbonetics cast manifold from the states, still meant for a left hand drive but i turned it upside dome added a half inch spacer between the manifold and head and used 2 sets of gaskets, then you still have to make an adaptor usin 2 t3 flanges to sit the turbo in the right place, and if you use a big turbo youl strugle to keep it under the bonnet! maybe best to build a tubular manifold from scratch..... :D

Those manifolds like all thin wall tubular ones need to have braces for the turbo´s weight.
Everybody´s turbo manifolds from xspower don´t crack if it´s used.
With great challenges comes great engineering.

try and fit any 1.5-2mm manifold in the world and assume it doesn´t crack,
it´s not going to happen you need to brace these things

Hi James!

Hope you are well?

I've gone a strapped mine back up again, got a cheap head from BB and had Dunnel skim and clean it for me, it's back on and running, just sorting a upgrade to 029q9 on the MS and some more mapping, I'll still pop up to collect the engine when I get out your way.

Your engines def getting there, must pop out and see you soon!

what I´m saying is that if you have thin wall tubing you have to brace it
those xspower ones or similar are thin and having a big turbo lump hang of it while the temp goes up and down will crack it no matter what they are made from.
With great challenges comes great engineering.
