Cheers! Was a bit of a shock when I first saw it from back, but love it nowJon_Bmw wrote:I like the tech 1 rear spoiler. It looks really good on white cars I think. Always liked it on DanThe's car.
Well spotted - cheap Ebay one - will be replaced by a real one when I see a decent one at a reasonable price.Jon_Bmw wrote: Is the IS lip spoiler a copy? It doesn't seem to sit quite right?
Sure - go ahead and feel free to post up photos...AtoZ wrote: since we're about it, can we have a Q&A about my rash and other zoners spots

its got a slight look of E28 about it if you ask me. but thats no bad thing. looks good.
currently without a BMW ðŸ˜
The mods you have done look great and it's not a bastardized hybrid but creatively and tastefully modified! Keep the the chrome, you've got away with I reckon. It would look better lowered more or with 16" wheels to some people. The lip spoiler does look a poor fit doesn't it?
Anyway, an amazing story that it's your dad's old car - who said booze and ebay don't mix!

Tech-1 is the only spoiler worth having.
Looking remarkably good for an out-of-favour colour/engine/bodyshell! It's good to be different...
I'd be very tempted by LPG too, but I'd love to see a modern diesel in an E30. Sadly, I don't think I'd trust one not to $hit itself! Heard one too many nightmare stories, but I've not done any real research - worth looking into though.
I've been up your way twice in the last 2 weeks btw! Will have to see if Jon's about & have a mini-meet next time

Right, what do people think for these prices - bear in mind it's from a main dealership (Sytners, Nottingham) who offered me what looks like a trade discount when they heard how much work I was planning on doing...
------------------------Normal------Discounted
Rear panel-------------£134--------£110
Rear quarterpanels---£240--------£195 (that's each)
Outer rear arches-----£88.50-------£70 (each)
Inner rear arch (O/S) £174--------£145
Inner rear arch (N/S) £155--------£130
So in total, I'm looking at £915 for panels
I knew it would be expensive, but what do people reckon to those prices? They reasonable?
That's before I replace the doors, scuttle, sort the bulkhead and replace the wings and fit a real IS lip. Hmmm....
it'll definitely be a good one to talk about at the zone meets anyway....
And to whoever said it looks like an E28 - thank you, I love the E28s so that's a nice compliment.

Sounds good Ziggy - would be good to see how Jon's M535i's going too - if he hasn't sold it for another Citreon!Ziggy wrote:Tech-1 is the only spoiler worth having.Looking remarkably good for an out-of-favour colour/engine/bodyshell! It's good to be different...

For the panels that can be seen,go with OE.For the one's out of sight, have a hunt and see if you can save some cash. Sure that Beardymatt will be able to help sort out pattern bits that he knows are good at sensible money.

The rear quarterpanels is the actual external bodywork that you see from the roof down to the rear lights, and down to the door sill, and the external wheel arch.HairyScreech wrote:Rear quarterpanels---£240--------£195 (that's each)

The outer rear arches (not sure if that's the technically accurate name) are the bits on the inside that kind of protect the inside of the quarter panel from mud and spray etc.
The inner rear arches are the layer that also makes up the lining of the boot. Hard to explain without a diagram..
Realoem diagram below - parts 4 and 6 (inner and outer rear arches) on this one:

And part 16 (rear quarter panel) on this one...

Hope that helps!

Sound sound advice and just what I was thinkng. Better plan in ever area.E30BeemerLad wrote:I'd forget all that malarky with the bodyshell and god knows how many other panels and buy a late touring on a K or L and save about twice what that bodywork would cost and ultimately have a more desirable car i.e. 3.0TDi Touring
Bence-Jones Proteins? You'll find them a piece of piss...Firefly2005 wrote:Sorry mumbeardymat wrote:makes sense to me and thats without looking at the pics![]()

As I have appointed Rosco(Nathan) as the zone agony auntie, perhaps Firefly would care to be the zone doctor?
