Hello folks. My names Stan, im from south scotland (Dumfries) and im in the middle of purchasing a white 2door '89 E30 316 for a VERY good price.

Its needing a wee bit of TLC but thats no problem.

Any hints on what to check for when looking over an E30?

Im from a Vauxhall background and know the usual spots for tin worm but just want to check there are no hidden scares.

Im in the need of a pair of front wings and it needs a N/S wheel bearing.

Whats involved in removing the hub? ( I havnt had a great look at it yet)

Any input would be very much appreciated.

P.S. Whats the going rate for 17" Alpinas, or replicas?

Cheers all

Stan.

Its got slight surface rust on the rear arches and a couple of scabs on the O/S door. The O/S wing is holed too so i will remove this and have a good poke about. One wee hole on the N/S of the scuttle panel too but thats easy sorted.

Its lowered 40mm and has an Mtec spoiler. Electrics work fine too.

Heres a couple pics.

Wheels are not really to my liking but will do for now.

its what ppl like to class as the jacking points  more or less right behind the front wheels youll see what should be a square metal plate and have a good poke round that on both sides as they have the habit of catching all the crap in there and rotting it is an easy repair but lets face it your not going to tell the boy your buying it off that winkeye

Its cheap enough so i think i will probably go ahead with it.

It will be worth more in scrap than what im paying so thats always an easy way out if needs be.

The O/S wing is holed near the bottom under the black vinyl or stonechip stuff or whatever it is.

Ive always wanted an E30.....
Bit different from the four Novas, Corsa, Starlet SR, Punto and Golf MK3 that ive had

The novas were a hell of a giggle i must admit.

I am still a bit of a Nova nut.

Started life out as a copletely standard 1200 Spin

Converted to 1400 SR, lowered 60mm on Bilsteins, Momo wheel, Leccy windows, with speedlines and digi dash etc etc

Open the sunroof into the tilt position and with a torch look into the roof where the sunroof panell would slide into. This is a hidden and not often inspected rust trap which is tricky to repair properly.

Welcome to the sone by the way. :thumb:
