There should have been two little boxes that go in line between the mids and the tweeters .they should have a couple of different pins for you to conect the tweeters too this adjusts the cut of point between bass mid and treble

Are they mounted on a solid baffle, and are they air-tight?

They are more powerful than the standard ones so may be flexing the oe mounts, also if they are not airtight they will not sound very good from past experience.

If you are adjusting at the cross over you are adjusting the cut point if they are still sounding tinny you have issues along what D6dph has mentioned
also 6x9 in the back shelf will bleed over everything

will try adjusting the cut of point i do relise the 6x9's give out much more bass, but the components are giving out very little if any
any idea whats the best way to go around making them air tight

when i use to do car installs we always tried to use a component set in the front with a small set of speakers on the back shelf for rear fill and a decent bass enclosure in the boot
this usually produced good results

i run infinty comp's up front in my merc for a while great speaker very clear I was using a graphic eq though, Only reason i changed them out was due to upgrading to jl comp's
Sounds like a setting rather than a speaker

Considering Selling the Cabby, looks like its gonna go

Are components the ones with the tweeter separate?
I've got 5.25" Infinitys with the speaker and tweeter together in the front footwells and in the rear shelf and they're nothing to write home about. They don't sound much better than the original BMW one's despite costing £50 a pair. They can go loud before distorting and do look really good though

If it wasn't for the sub in the boot it would be like Alex said a bit 'average'

they are only 5" speakers, they are designed to be vocal.... not bassy, you wont get a great amount of bass out this size of speaker. ive got focal mids and tweets in mine and even with them ive cut the frequancy on them around 120hz.. to get the best out of them with out distortion.

i know there not meant to be bassy but surely they should give more or the same bass at least as the standard bmw ones????

if u want bass buy another sub, Realistly i never run bass through the speakers i use the HPF on the amp and head unit setting making th elife span of the speakers alot better. Hence a EQ in the merc and the HPF on the keny amp and the setting on the HU in the BM.
Mid's and tweeters is about clarity and crisp sound not thuding bass

i think i might end up just getting some better 6x9s in the back to make up for the loss of bass in the front.
might even mount some 6.5" speakers on the trim panel as ive seen a few done. the car had them like this when i baught it but the speakers were fooked, i might revert back to that way but get some better speakers

what you think ????

I've got Infinity 5010CS in my Touring. They aren't particularly bassy - but they wouldn't be because they're only mids. I wouldn't describe them as tinny though.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......
