Thank you for your e-mail dated 8th January reference your request to use Portchester Castle for your car club.



We allowed you access last year as a one off for the memorial of your friend Malcolm, we did not envisage this becoming an annual event, this is not something we wish to encourage and with that in mind we cannot grant permission.

Long time no speak, i can unfortunately confirm this decline from English Heritage; i spoke to Dawn Postelswaite today at Battle Abbey (work), and she made a point of telling me that you cannot use the castle for this or any other meet.

ok guys update have had contack with PeterAshleyActivityCentres fort widley just up the road from the meeting place at pompy. the company who owns it are a charity so we might have to make a donation so we will see what happens will update when i have more info ect but fingers crossed , looking st there web site should be a brilliant venue say tuned

OK guys and girls...

To clarify this meet, it will be:

22nd June 2008 at Fort Purbrook. This is on Portsdown Hill, about a mile from the burger van.

Entry will be £5 per car, but we NEED more cars.
A Barbecue will be provided, this will be included in your £5.

We will have to pay the Fort to hire the place, the cost of this and the cost of the barbecue will be taken from the proceeds, all remaining funds, plus what we collect in the collection buckets on the day will go to either Macmillan or Cancer Research, at Sheila's (Malcolm's widow) choice.

Please people, lets get the list up and raise as much as we can for a worthy cause, and have a damned good meet in the process. The place is fabulous, plenty of scope for some great pics and the best meet ever.

We can get in from 10am, but we need to be cleared from the Fort by 4pm. Any of you wishing to stay later can move on to the Churchillian pub. We can get in from 10am, so I suggest a 10 - 3.30 meet, finishing at the pub. If anyone feels we need entertainment of some sort for a meet of this duration, please either post or PM me with ideas.

I am discussing with Iain regarding a Club Stand to sell Zone merchandise, a deal regarding merchandise profit from the day may be reached as well, to raise the charity donation.

Please be aware though everyone, that NO PETS are allowed in, so no dogs and no animal behaviour.

Also NO GLASS to be taken into the fort. Alcohol isn't a problem, but in plastic bottles or tins please. And no littering the place, we're responsible for leaving the fort in the state we found it.
