Hey guys I am very perplexed over the weekend I changed the starter motor on my car, (as the solenoid on the previous one seemed to be jammed).
Now nothing is happening at all when you turn the ignition key you hear a soft klicking noise, the rev needle bobs up and down in sink with this noise, then it just stops and none of the lights come on.

Anyone know whats going on.

Sounds like a flat battery...I assume you've checked this first though?

I tried to jump start it on sunday, I disconected my batterie's neg terminal and tried to start her with a friends car and I could not get anything.

The car was sitting over night with the battery disconected, so I dont think the battery could have just died. will try swop it with a friends battery a little bit latter when I get home.

if the connections on the starter were not connected properly would it have an effect on the instrument lights.

Surley this would not be the case? only if the connection was not on properly on the battery side.

I don't think you should have disconnected the negative terminal on your own car when jump starting, that would mean the power would be going nowhere. That clicking nearly always indicates a flat battery but it might be bad connections most probably on the earth to body side. :thumb:

You guys were right it was the battery, its flooked 4dead cells, but the starter still isnt turning over.
Cant Understand it, posted another topic detailing the run up to my probs.

Going to give all the terminals on the car a good clean when I get home today.

This could be the engine earth to the chassis, should be visible under the engine somewhere. To test, attach a jump lead from the battery earth to a good solid bit of metal on the engine and try turning over.
