Well, that's me out of the running for another stainless then. The Scorpion was too loud for my liking - inspite of several people assuring me that it "wouldn't be much louder than standard if you keep the standard front box."!wullie325i wrote:they are stupidly loud.

Hiya. Had a terrible Sebring on a 16V Mk2 golf. It was a terrible fit and fell apart in no time.Parker wrote:Very interesting debate / comments and so far the Mongoose gets a thumbs down i think from the Zoners
How about Sebring?

Is this for your 320 convertible? Surely a factory system would be nicer as yours is such an original car? If you want a bigger bore go for a full 325 system. You might have to change the manifold as well though. Not too sure. I know the mainfold to downpipe gasket is different on a 2.0 to a 2.5.
B7's Motto. "If it's French, BURN IT!!!!!!"
I had a Mongoose (briefly) that was a terrible fit. What was worse was the shocking attitude of the manufacturer about the whole thing, basically, it was not their problem. Avoid like the plague.

Bought: Obtain in exchange for payment. Brought: Come to a place with (someone or something).
These words are NOT interchangable....!

Hi Trevor, yes your right about wanting to kep my cab pretty much original, i was just testing the waters but i think with all the comments so far about non BMW exhausts it might be well be best to go for a factory system like you say. Dont like the sound of having to change the manifold though - sounds expensive!
Cheers for all the comments so far - keep them coming.

325 system will fit straight onto a 320 one peice manifold, i have done this on my touring.

Right, here we go yet again.B7 wrote:Is this for your 320 convertible? Surely a factory system would be nicer as yours is such an original car? If you want a bigger bore go for a full 325 system. If the 320i in question has the later twin-pipe-all-the-way-through system on, either of the 325i systems (2- or 3-piece) will fit straight on the manifold.
The only difference between these systems is that the tail pipes are a bigger bore on the 325i system. Everything else is identical.
You only need to change the manifold if the 320i system is the earlier type - single pipe from the centre box back.

Stuart.
I will watch this with interest too. I fancy a stainless for mine (prob just a back box), but don't want burst ear drums. Ive heard good things about Supersprint? i.e. Good quality and not offensively loud.

Still not the whole story; there were 2 different sizes of manifold flange available on the 325i, which means that all 325i systems will not bolt up to all 325i manifolds, let alone all 320i manifolds. This change was not made at the same time as the swap from 3 -> 2 piece, so you need to measure the flanges to find out if things'll work.StuBeeDoo wrote: Right, here we go yet again.

The above is definitely the case, but IIRC there's also another 325i manifold with a totally different type of flange (maybe 2 flanges) - but I've never had one of those so can't remember for sure!
