Plans just to do a running restoration with some period upgrades here and there - Im not really one for modifying as such but may look at retro fitting power steering and electric roof - plus maybe some 15" BBS Cross Spokes. Got to get it through MOT at end of March can then prioritise jobs.

Spotted that last week and wondered why it didn't get snapped up quicker - I guess the beige interior put people off! Looks a pretty good car otherwise 8)

Yeah I wasnt mad keen on the colour when I first saw it, however its grown on me very quickly and the car was pretty much spot on specification wise for what I wanted - 2 door with manual gearbox, no major rust and no major modifications and without starship mileage - so it fits the bill. :D

Cheers ! - Won a Tech 1 wheel on ebay last night and window regulator / indicator stalk on way to sort out first few problems.

Seem to have drawn a blank looking for a drivers seat though - loads of grey and black trim available but no beige !

Regulator as such just appears to be a slide at each end of the door that the glass runs up and down - is that it ?

The majority of the play in the mechanism seems to be at the front ( A-Post ) end of the door - where the glass is connected to the mech there is a white plastic part attached to the runner - seems this is where all the slack in the system is.

I take it if I strip it all down and just replace the runners and sliding parts everything will be peachy ?

How much do you want for the bits you've got and is it hard to do ? - not done one before !

Thanks in advance mate :D

id sell you the full mechanisim mate its allready removed out the door thats the way id do it to be honest. there more or less just bolted in that way just a bit fiddly to get in and out the door frame. it would save trying to build one up out of parts. i can get it ready to courier monday for you just a case of wrapping it up for you. once youve got your one out the door youll know how the new one will go back in and bolt up. pm me with an offer

Thanks to JBH for the window regulator - fitted today - old mechanism was a bit of a bitch to get out of the door but removed it successfully in the end new regulator went in without too much trouble and works a treat ! - Very satisfying !

As I was on a roll I also fitted the Indicator stalk I bought off ebay the other week and to top it off fitted my new bargain of the century £10 Tech 1 Steering wheel.

A very productive day - just got to hope at best for a straight pass on the MOT next week - at worst nothing too expensive ! :)

Also greatly improved steering and handling by pumping up drivers side front tyre - was well low - especially with no PAS the steering was ridiculously heavy but now all tyres at the correct pressure it actually feels pretty good !

Still debating whether to fit some 15" BBS or stick with the bottle-tops as they have almost new tyres all round :?

Cheers mate but if I change the wheels it will only be for 15" BBS - I will keep an eye out for a decent set with centre caps but this will have to be on hold until after the MOT

have you pulled the rubber sleve out from round the filler neck as there can be all sorts of rot in there? :(

Nope......might go and have a look in a bit - as there is some visible round the filler neck already I would guess there is more lurking underneath.

Just had a look round the filler neck - it appears to be just surface rust - not too bad.

Yes but now its through the MOT will probably leave it until I have got it to the spec I want - upgrades will probably be :

PAS Rack & Pump
New shocks and springs ( probably standard MTech rather than really low - as long as its a bit lower than it is now )
New bushes all round
Electric sunroof conversion
Rear Headrests ( easy - just need the brackets )
Change front airdam for standard item
Replace foglamps
Full Service inc all ignition components......

Then tackle the dreaded paintwork !
