Any of you guys had your e30 on the rollers?
If so, post up what power you made and what mods you have.
I'm putting mine on next sun, would be good to have something to compare it to.
Thanks.

Previous owner of mine got 225bhp and 218lbft (iirc).
325ecu (apparently), chipped.
325 scorpion exhaust with e34 downpipes and manifolds
cone filter with no special cold air intake (probably sucking hot)
1986 e32 engine.
Now the engine is in my car, when finished off it should hopefully be a bit more than that with a proper cold air induction with an air box etc, and a proper exhaust.

i was at a rolling road meet but i got there late as i was fixing something then when i got there i could not stay long as i had to move to manchester in the 335i.
scary road trip, 2 hours on the motorway on it maiden voyage. not clever but it lasted....just.
would have sounded mint as i only have a sinlge 3 inch tube all the way to a tiny back box
in standard form with out cats everyone talks about 220bhp and about the same in torque so it would be nice to see how it does.
what mods have you done?

Should be a solid 220bhp+ then, plenty!
To get real power you are talking cam, proper manifold, and probably to bin the flappy AFM. Yanks mention circa 260bhp with a good set of the breathing mods as I mentioned. It's silly though really as you could just dump in a v8 for the same money lol.

Yeah hope to see 220 and a nice chunk of torque.
I intend to go down the S38 route when funds allow.

My E30 pulled 220bhp @ 6100rpm and 206lbft @ 4500rpm, this was with the chip in, which tbh didnt make much, if any difference IMO.

Did you dyno it with a standard ECU chip as well, or did it just feel as if it made no difference?Milko wrote:My E30 pulled 220bhp @ 6100rpm and 206lbft @ 4500rpm, this was with the chip in, which tbh didnt make much, if any difference IMO.
Stock figures for the engine are 211bhp and 225ft/lbs, and I think that's with a cat fitted.

Well, good to see you got your 220bhp with the chip - not bad going from an old M30B35!Milko wrote:Yeah hope to see 220 and a nice chunk of torque.

I didnt do a run with the standard chip no, wasnt time.
I cant feel any difference between the chips no.
God knows where my 20lbft is then....
Did have serious traction issues on the rollers tho, even woth 2 people in the boot and sticky stuff sprayed on tyres it still struggled.

I felt a considerable improvement in low-down pick-up/torque with this chip installed in my '88 535iSE compared to the standard chip, also the increased rev limit (way beyond the standard 6,250rpm), although peak power is at around 6,100rpm as stated above, comes in handy when you want to hold a gear for longer as is the case sometimes when you're pressing on.
How many miles has your M30B35 done, and does it have any other mods? It's possible the custom exhaust is losing you some torque in places, as was the case recently with the M20B25 Hottuning exhaust manifold test.

The rev limit is raised yes, this was my main reason for buying your chip, as the gearing on my car is such that i would run out of revs possibly in 4th before crossing the line on the strip, obviously not good needing to change to 5th...
Mods are minor and listed above, mileage on the engine was circa 125k I believe...
For the record, I dont regret buying the chip, but in all honesty I cannot 'feel' any difference.
