just raced my dads 3L m3... bollocks theyre fast!!!!!! wouldnt really say it was a race either - more a thrashing.
my 325 had a headstart with me giving it all it has, and he still flew past me, arent they supposed to be heavier??? he had such a smug grin on his face too.
made me laugh though - some old gran called me a w@nker as we flew past her - she mustve been 80 odd! feel bad now.
well anyway, looks like ive found the incentive to carry out the s50 conversion ive been delaying so long... keep up with my old man.
bleedin typical, just when i was getting used to using the old coupe to its full potential - a wake up call.
anyone else want to share their experiences with the other m badged bigger brothers?

The M3 is a good 120bhp more than an E30 and weighs not a huge amount more.
S50 conversion will make the car very quick.

The 760i is about 5 and a half seconds I think. God damned fast when you consider how mahoosive they are.

325i is not really a fast car... more of a fun car i think, (if you can find the space) its definatly one of the slower cars i've had recently.. the only slower one (and not by much) being the 1.8turbo mk 4 golf gti..
Before I had the golf I had an E36 3L M3... all I can say is... IT FLEW... didn;t really realise how fast it was until I sold it... I had it to 150mph, it was still pulling as though it was in fourth.... but I had to slow down.. I was trying to find out if it was limited to 155mph, as mine was an early one '94.. must say it felt really stable at that speed 2 am in the morning, nice empy road!!

That's cos you can drive though Gus!
I kept with a Scooby in my Civic at the last trackday I did. My car isn't Scooby quick though, he just wasn't playing Jonny Big Balls.

325i's arent "slow", they just arent super fast.
327i's on the other hand are bloody fast and will give M3's a ahard time as Karan has proven so many times.

ok im not saying that i am faster but i can stay with m3s evo and non evo up to very high speeds cs of my gearing i guess.....
however.. e46 m3s pull about 3 car langths from 0-100 which i guess is a fair bit.....
back to the e36..... ive played with many of these now including on large corners and roundabouts.... and they corner really crap- all of them rolled stupid amounts and i just cruised back up to their bumper with their car looking really unstable and the back really wavy...im sure a good coilover set would cure this though
i think the reason is that they have to really be revved but with a 2.7 u just floor it at lowish revs-3k and the car goes...with the m3 u need to really need to rag the tits of it.....
as i said though e46 m3 is next level and ive only played with on. id love to own a nice modded one in the future with good suspensiion carbon airbox and all those other expensive goodies to make it a real monster,
if u look at Ians video...u can see how an e30 with similar power can obliterate an e36 m3...even that schnitzer lightweight one. quite simply... the e30 is light and i have a feeling the e36 would get a pasting on track too!
after the e34 m5 engined thing is done end of summer with my dad.... i'll be selling my sport and building an m62 4.4 v8 engined tourer.... i think this is prob the ultimate thing to do even though it may only boast 280ish bhp, the weight is low and can be positioned far back, and also in a tourer the weight distribution will be great and the car will look awesome with a cage in the back and rolling on m3 running gear also!---something for next year,,,,,,, thats if i finish the e34 m5 one soonish
anyone know where i can get a m62 v8 lump cheapish?
have a look here for this company in US who have done the v8 thing..... look at the quality of the work... its amazing!

your not joking about the bloody workmanship. that almoust looks factory. very nice.
surly that engine would be too much power for the car with no tc?

not the 280 bhp which will be the traction looser. the torque will be insane in a car that size,
but non the less excellent

Oh yeah the V8 torque could be a little dangerous in the wrong hands
But you're not gonna do a V8 engine swap by yourself unless you know how to handle the power

I only know that a normal 325i versus my S50 powered one is quite funny,
when racing my friend itԚ´s like he was standing still. No kidding
When he got turbo It was not that easy but at speed I still had a strong edge.
