Hi all,
I know its not really an E30, but it nearly is! Anyway, I have the opportunity to buy a damaged one with 20k miles on the clock.
Does anyone know if you can still get body parts from BMW or even better a BMW breaker who might have one?
Cheers,
Bryn.

Its only Ԛ£2.5k so I have a reasonable budget to repair it before I reach its full value.
Thanks for the info, didn't know there were so many!
Its Top Red by the way.
Cheers,
Bryn.

actully they made 15000 bmw z1s and there actully just a plastic 325 parts could be a problem and it will be worth saving as if you can get it up to scratch its worth about 15000 to 20000 if its an alpina z1 then your on a winner as ther is even less of them sorry i am a big geek...............j

it aint a plastic 325! it's a 325 engine box and diff, everything else is different, engine much further back in the chassis, z-axle rear suspension etc etc. as you say though a nice one is worth 20k!325dude wrote:actully they made 15000 bmw z1s and there actully just a plastic 325 parts could be a problem and it will be worth saving as if you can get it up to scratch its worth about 15000 to 20000 if its an alpina z1 then your on a winner as ther is even less of them sorry i am a big geek...............j

Z1 is a brilliant car. It looks fantastic and turns loads of heads.
Simple E30 mechanicals which keep running costs very low.
I think its lighter aswell.
With a 2.7 fitted it would make one rapid machine.
I would defo go for it its 2.5k

Some info...
At the launch, BMW suggested that owners mght like to buy a spare set of body panels, so that they could change the colour of the car from time to time.
The original suggestion was that taking all the body panels off would take about 40 minutes for a skilled mechanic. The reality is that to take them off, AND PUT THEM ON AGAIN(!) is a good 2 day's work.
There are about 5(?) different types of plastic used in the body, and BMW and AKZO coatings developed a new 'Varioflex' paint system to cope with applying paint to the different flexible materials.

I once had a drive of my cousin's business partner's Z1, drove to Oulton Park and did a racing school thingy for my 18th (10 years ago now).....an absolutely brilliant day all in all. Loved cruising through Knutsford with the doors down, certainly a very eye catching car.....and if you've got one lined up for Ԛ£2.5k then get the cheque book open right away!

I'm trying to persuade my girlfriend to buy one....! telling her that it will be a better investment rather than a Z3.... But she has to pass her test first!

worth more like 12k m8.325dude wrote:if you can get it up to scratch its worth about 15000 to 20000
u see them advertised from 11k - 16k odd - but the higher price ones never sell quickly.
Plus asking price is very rarely the selling price
actually in this case itd be worth a fair bit less as its gonna likely be hpi listed.
HOWEVER still worth saving tho, awesome cars imo

Eevr since this thread has started Ive been thinking of getting one.
Ive seen a few on the road and they look so good.
It would be great to get one with a 220bhp 2.7 in it or a Turbo charged one which was actually built by Korman (I think) back when most of us were doing our GCSE's.
Anyway, fantastic machines and I want one which is mega quick.

i spent three weeks driving one when i lived in germany in 1997 (girlfriends fathers), amazing car to drive and look at but overpriced now IMHO. I would love one but would/could never justify spending that sort of money on the Z1.
