Hi, just wondering if anyboy knows if its possable to buy a spray to tint out the rear lights, becuase 210 is a lot to spend on new ones! Also what is a good price to pay for window tints?

Many thanks,
:D

Paul if you're thinking of tinting them red there's a spray called "Savage Tint Spray" for around a tenner that works really well if you take your time.

If you mess up you can clean it off with white spirit and try again anyway....

hi lads
do they do the savage spray in black or grey for the rear lights??
think it would look better than red on my car

also whats the score with tinting?? bod in halfords says you can go as dark as you like on any rear windows and still have a light tint on the front is this true or is the lil :wan: trying to stitch me up??
i realy like cars tinted properly and if the back is realy dark it should make the front lite tint look quite dark anyway but is it legal to tint the front sides??
cheers all in advance as im sure youll put me rite in no time Daz

Red light tint spray in Halfords works fine, leaves them nice and shiney - matching the already red bits. I've used it for years on mine...

Hope this helps...

Giles.

I dont remember but i'll try and find out. That counts what ever tint your windows alreaady have aswell. So if you put 30% tints on a window with 10% already on then its illegal. Some police have light transmission metres that they can check with.

it is illegal to tint the windscreen, i know that. it is also illegal to tint the front side windows, the law used to state you were allowed 34% on front. i have my fronts done so would just say i had it done before the law changed.

if you wanna check the law just ring up a tinting company and ask.

the window tinting law indeed changed recently (although i know not when, over a year ago) and it's now not legal to tint front side windows for a car to be used on a public highway. it has never been legal to aftermarket tint a windscreen.

however with the e30 not having been made a few years now there's no way of knowing when any front tints were applied.

any tinters will tell you that they can't tint the fronts - but ask them nicely and they'll do them for you but don't expect a receipt. if mr. plod does stop and ask questions then they've been done for at least 3 years.

choose any tinter carefully. a crap job looks crap and will be regretted for a long time - and it's not easy to get right. for a good result the glass has to be removed from the car and treated in special rooms and all that malarky - i don't really know what they have to do. gatwick autoshades (near gatwick, unsurprisingly) have an excellent reputation.

also it's worth noting that at the end of the day it's a film applied to the inside of the window so this makes it easier to mark/scratch than it would otherwise be. also if for any reason a window breaks you've the added cost and hassle of matching the tint on the replacement glass.

having said all that when done properly it looks excellent.

I thought it was 30% on front side windows and windscreens and anything you like on the back ones..

Bit of an issue with my touring as it has about 90% tint on all the windows except the windscreen lol

That doc is dated March 04 so about a year old.. nice that the MOT test does not include tint checks:) Although I know they don't like sunstrips..
