Hi folks.

I'm looking into getting some mounts made up for mounting 52mm auxillary gauges where the ashtray sits. These are the same ones from Kos' group buy a couple fo years ago.

The only pic i have of one at the moment is from searching the zone as mine is currently away at the fabricators for them to assess and give me a price to get some made.

These will be made from either 1mm or 2mm thick metal and will come unpainted so you can add the finish you want yourselves.

I haven't been given any clue as to how much these are going to cost but i'm sure the more people i can get to make an order will help to bring the price down, i do remeber paying somewhere in the region of £35 inc P&P when Kos ran the group buy.

Anyone interested can you add your names to this list please;

I'm after the same sort of thing but instead of replacing the ash tray i want them in the recess just behind the ash tray, i think you used to be able to get an OE part for this but not sure if its still avaible?

You can cut holes straight into the console trim, there is enough room behind it for guages, you don't lose the ashtray or little storage bin in front of it and you can see them fairly well from the drivers' seat!

Just a suggestion. :)

Here's mine:

Thanks! :)

Not that difficult to do either, just measure and mark out the holes centrally on the foam back of the console with pencil and then cut out with a Stanley knife!

I'm not sure from which model (I bought them from another 'Zoner) but they are out of a late 1980s / early 1990s Audi.

They are fixed into a metal mounting bracket, but the front trim (from the Audi dashboard) can be removed, if you see what I mean.
The second photo shows the mounting bracket.

Looks good, but what do the meters actually tell you. Never seen them before in an E30. Obviously I have seen things like that relating to turbo pressure, temp etc in boosted cars.

The Audi guages I have are; volt meter ( :? not really necessary in my opinion), oil pressure and oil temperature, which I find are nice to have. :)

The (rather nasty!) boost guage is next to the stereo! :)

I need the voltmeter as I'm looking to install a PC into my car, on top off my already power heavy sound system.

The others aren't really that important to me.. but then again I don't really know what they do exactly?

Ha, where do you plan on fitting a pc into your E30? Quite limited space. Then again I've thought about it too. All I could come up with was either in the boot, or a laptop "plug-in" section that links to a mini keyboard/mouse setup and a small 11" screen or something... (or a screen that comes with those in-car dvd players (which in our cars often get stuck becuase of the indicator...)

Here's another option for fitting aux gauges in the cubby hole behind the ashtray:

I've just bought an induction kit heatshield from him to go with a K&N cone filter. Looks like a good, well-developed piece of kit - made from ABS plastic so won't suffer/cause heat soak like the metal versions. I'll post initial thoughts and results when it arrives.

I asked him ages ago if he did a RHD version (as I guess his LHD was a mirror image) but he didn't reply.......

I have a heavy duty shock proof, etc. Laptop which I'm going to connect to a 7" touchscreen panel fitted somewhere in my car (Not sure where yet).
The laptop I will place in the boot, and I will be fitting USB ports in the dash for easy up/downloading..

Once I've got everything together I will be doing a build thread on it..
