I recon 2.5 would be best.

Just bought myself a prefacelift rack from Chris-W 8) if the numbers keep growing I'll get it off to Quaife

Any one on any other E30 forums? Might be handy to spread the word and fill the list.

2.5 will be fooking quick as is.. Nevermind 2.1, I would say 2.1 would be verging on too twitchy..

i used to run a 2.2 turn quickrack on a mk2 escort... sublime :D
parking is more fun though but once you're going it's not too bad. you very rarely need to cross hands or anything either which makes it a bit easier

Jason, I've compared numbers of racks at realoem.com and haven't find any differences.

vs

What should manual rack be rebuiled in final?

The difference is in the rack internals not something you can see on that digram strip a couple of racks down and have a look

So are there any external differences to choose correct rack?

You will need a complete donor rack. You will then be sent the quick ratio version by Quafie and you fit it to the donor.

here is rebuilding of AE86 rack which my friend did. He bought rebuild kit from Quaife.

Stock contents are in bottom and the Quaife are above.

Very interested in one of these.

A couple of things though, what is the rack type Quaife have said it will be for, E21jason says a couple of years ago they didn't have the tooling, what about now?

Also the internals are different but are they interchangeable? I'd imagine it will put people off/slow this down if you need to hunt down a very specific part in order to benefit from a quick rack.

It will be made up from a pre-facelift rack, seeing as that's what I've just bought lol!

I believe he was refering to the fact they didn't have tools to be able to cut triangular racks. It is true they don't have the tooling for this rack yet hence why I need 20 people on the list to proceed.

dont worry heavybelly, there will be plenty of scrap preface povo spec cars out there to plunder a rack off :)

jbh did you find out if you had 2 pre facelift racks btw?

rix313, did you consider rebuilding of the powerstering racks? Why just manual?

And one more: sorry for my stupid question but if quife cut the teeth of the rack to make it quicker so I need to supply to them my donor rack to cut it, isn't it?
