Hi all any advice will be appreciated, my rubber doughnut has split so that the metal inserts are now touching each other this is a new rubber coupling, has anyone elese had this issue? or are you using a different prop shaft coupling for turbo'd lumps??

I would get that sorted,as soon as possible, before driving the car again, I don't know if the part is different for turbo models.

2 points when installing a doughnut, aka guibo

1- check the arrows on the guibo should point to the flange of box and prop
2- when tightening guibo bolts, rotate the nut or bolt that is touching the flange to avoid twisting the rubber

I see there must be some other problem I know the doughnut was fitted the correct way I'm not sure how the bolts were tightened,my max bhp is around that mark so can't be the power ripping it up. I think a genuine bmw one is the next step incase the pattern part was faulty or from a dodgy batch

I wouldn't be installing one of those solid or polybushed ones as BMW designed these to take out the vibrations in the drive train, but more importantly to save the gearbox, prop and diff from shock. It's a lot cheaper and easier to replace one of these than other parts of the drive line.

Have seen some big power builds still retain them with no problems so I would recommend replacing it with a genuine BMW one and see how it goes

Same here,
the standard one i have on mine is good enough,
as long as its installed properly and the bolts are the correct torque,
then it should last a long time

I've ripped two rubber doughnut before i installed the ali and poly one. It dose absorb the vibration. I've used it for more just over a year and I've had no problems.

If its a standard M20 2.5 prop your using why not upgrade to E36 328i prop?
its the same length but has the larger guibo up front.

Bogjoe, honestly it sounds like you have another issue on hand, possibly alignment. What power is your car making?
