Can anyone recommend a fault code reader compatible with the wife's E36? Needs to be able to retrieve ABS codes. Its a '97 318i

Ediabas/INPA software is pretty good if you have an old laptop.
or try the small pocket fault readers that just give basic codes;

Most use an older RS232 port to connect the lead.
Some modern leads use a USB but I havn't tried them yet as my old one still works
