Hi all,
I have a 325i E reg car and the batteries have leaked all over the SI board. It doesn’t look very happy. Just need a good working board or if need be the whole cluster?

Is it salvageable? I modify mine using a AA x 2 battery holder and mount some rechargeable batteries on the outside of the cluster with velcro.

The board is lacquered, but if the crud has got under it, into the thin tracks around the battery area, then it'll be a major, time consuming job, for someone with much better eyesight than mine, to repair it.
Never understood why anyone would want to fit an external battery tray. There's no worthwhile advantage.

I did it on one of my earlier ones so I could disconnect them when I left the battery off for a long time and also if the batteries do leak they wouldn't damage the board, plus the added bonus of about five minutes to change them if I needed toBrianmoooore wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 8:06 pmThe board is lacquered, but if the crud has got under it, into the thin tracks around the battery area, then it'll be a major, time consuming job, for someone with much better eyesight than mine, to repair it.
